Since I started vaping I've also been mixing my own juices. I've been looking long and hard for a list of trustworthy, well marketed and tasty flavors for my mixes. I have failed. Mainly because most of the list's I've found either said nothing about mixing quantities or a description of the flavor or they were too technical and utilized variables that I couldn't understand as a noob (atty voltage, cart mods, e-cigs that I've never heard of, ect ect). So I've decided this is the best place to start to look for new flavors and build a list for other noobs.
I normally mix my juices in 5ml batches as follows:
50 drops (2.5ml) 36mg nic (in the end comes out to 18mg)
30 drops (1.5ml) filler (in my case Aqueous VG from Totally Wicked)
20 drops (1ml) flavor
All of my mixes are used in either my 510 or my blu that I converted to direct drip.
The following is a list of flavors I've tried thus far with my personal inflections. Many of my flavors come from Lorann so I'll say this: I am not affiliated with Lorann. I am not being paid for this. I use Lorann mainly because of good customer service, speedy delivery and previous experience with using their candy flavors for making home made taffy *nom nom nom*. I also like the "dram" size for flavors. $1.40 for for a flavor that will make up to 3 batches of the above mixing ratio. If it sucks I'm not worried about wasting money. Plus it's a great way to try a lot of flavors without spending a ton of cash.
If you have your own flavors please add them so others may enjoy.
Pomagranate:
Company: Lorann Oils
Flavor: One of my personal fav's so far. Sweet and tangy. Tastes like home made pomagranate gelatin. Does have a slight "diet soda" after taste but not enough to turn me off to it.
Cranberry:
Company: Lorann Oils
Flavor: Sweet and refreshing. Not as strong as an actual cranberry would taste but that's due to the lack of the dry aftertaste. This flavor finished clean with no aftertaste and didn't linger in the sinus. A good starter mix IMO.
Caramel:
Company: Lorann Oils
Flavor: Sweet with a hint of a milky finish. Tastes just like good caramel should. Some of the sweetness you would expect is dulled because this is vapor not a chunk of candy in your mouth. Highly enjoyable for anyone who likes caramel.
Key Lime:
Company: Lorann Oils
Flavor: Sweet and tangy. Tastes like a fresh made key lime pie filling as you would expect. Finishes clean with a little tangy aftertaste lingering in the pallet and sinus. Under heavy vaping can cause a sore throat (It did for me).
Clove:
Company: Lorann Oils
Flavor: Mellow. If you like clove cigs, especially Djarum Black, you will like this one. The flavor is VERY VERY VERY3 strong! I made this batch with the above amounts and would suggest cutting it back to .5ml flavoring and boost the filler to 2.0ml. I will warn you that this flavor lingers in an atty for a long time even after hot water rinses. I would suggest if you love this flavor to get an atty that you can devote to this juice.
Cinnamon Roll:
Company: Lorann Oils
Flavor: Mellow. Unfortunately I did not like this one. The cinnamon doesn't come through as much as I would like and there is no sweetness in this mix. Maybe mixing together a cheese cake flavor and cinnamon flavor would yield the desired result which this one lacks.
Apple:
Company: Lorann Oils
Flavor: Sweet, subtle and tangy. Tastes like the afterthought of an apple Jolly Rancher (if that makes any sense). Finish is clean with a little tang and the flavor doesn't linger. I wouldn't suggest this one for a new vaper until your sense of taste has returned because before this time you won't taste a damn thing. As soon as you regain your sense of taste it is a great flavor if you don't want flavor that kicks you in the jaw.
Smokey Bacon:
Company: Totally Wicked (Decadent Vapors)
Flavor: Porky. I was filled with hopes and dreams about this one. I love bacon more than I love my wife (she knows this and she's made her peace with it). Got it in the mail, mixed it up and gagged on it. It tasted like pork tenderloin that was overcooked on a Foreman Grill, left in the fridge for a month then microwaved too long before eating. STAY AWAY! I can't think of a single human who would enjoy this one. But that's my opinion.
Sour Cherry:
Company: Totally Wicked (Decadent Vapors)
Flavor: ??? There was none. Maybe my senses were still in shock from the above fiasco but I even tried a drop of the flavor directly on my tongue and still couldn't taste a thing.
I still have one more flavor from Lorann that I have yet to mix, Strawberry Kiwi. I'll post my inflections upon that one once I get to it. Unless someone beats me to the punch.
If you've notices I've stayed away from oils (as they supposedly damage atties) and anything that contains artificial coloring. I've heard horror stories about using flavors that contain artificial coloring (horrible coughing, pain, hacking up chunks). Does anyone have any first hand knowledge confirming or denying these claims? If they are denied it would really open up a lot more flavors for me from Lorann.
I hope this gives some people who are dabbling with the idea of mixing your own juice a starting point. Happy Vaping!
