It's definitely NOT 3.7 volts. I'm pretty sure it is 3.4v but drops to 3.2v under load. It is the weakest voltage model on the market that I am aware of. Plus is has the weak 2.5 amp switch.

Great thanks very much !!! Just was not sure ad some bits I have can't go above the standard volt or they will burn out ...hence the ego t question as well that I added :)

You can't use lower ohm attys/cartos on the eGo's due to the weak 2.5 amp switch. Plus, unless you like cold vapor, 3.4 volts just doesn't cut it, IMO.

Great info thanks again !! So I can use 3.7 and higher on the ego t ??? The guy at the shop said no way as I would burn it out ???

a joyetech ego is regulated to 3.4v. however, knock-off egos are unregulated- which means that its 4-4.2v when fully charged, then works its way down to 3.2-3.4v when it dies.

to confuse things more, joyetech has an ego called the "ego-c upgrade" which can be adjusted back and forth from unregulated to regulated.

and then youve got the twist. this is the best option for an ego in my opinion as you can select the voltage instead of guessing. i want to say there is a higher amp limit on the twist too. not 100% sure though.

once you figure out the amp limit on the ego you are looking at, use ohms law to determine if the atty/carto will operate properly on it:

From what I have read, the Twist has the weak 2.5 amp switch, also.

There are eGo batteries, and then there are eGo batteries. Which voltage would you like?
There is the old standard eGo battery with regulated 3.4v. (3.37v under load) It continues to fire at 3.37v until it needs recharging.

There is the eGo upgrade which can be switched between regulated 3.4v and unregulated 3.7v

There is the eGo Twist which is VV

Also a 2.5 amp limit works fine for most users. If you use dual coil or very low resistance 2.5 amp won't work.

Brilliant thanks for that reply ...:) got it now ....god wonder how much more advanced e-cigs will be in a year or so from now !!

If I have read one, I have read 50+ posts of some one trying to use a LR or DCC on an ego and wondering why they don't work. Just today I read a post where several people were stating that DCC's are terrible and don't work on any PV, so why do they make them. The person was using an eGo. The cost difference between a 2.5 amp switch and a 5 amp switch is pennies.

I won't recommend a PV that limits what someone can use on it, just to save a few pennies.

bummer. looks like you gotta keep your resistance at 1.9 or above to be able to use the twist's full range of voltages. on the bright side, at least most twist users wont have a problem with that. for those that do require more amperage: its MOD time! :D

The Joye eGo-c upgrade battery has two modes. One is the regulated 3.4V mode and the other is the unregulated 3.7V mode. You can safely vape with 1.7-1.8Ω lr attys/clearos/cartos on any eGo. The regular Joye LR attys for the ego-c and eGo-t are 1.7Ω and they work fine. I use the 1.8Ω Kanger T-3's on about 8 eGo's between my wife and I without a problem.

    Joyetech eGo-C Upgrade Battery

Earlier eGos, before eGo-c, ran underload from 3.1-3.3V eGo-c's run just a bit hotter at 3.3-3.4V

I was curious how the power levels averaged out, it's all ohm's law calcs in their most basic forms...

a 2.5 amp switch, used with a 3.37V regulated genuine Joye eGo battery will provide a maximum 8.42W power.

That same amp limit will bottom you out at 1.35 ohms as the lowest resistance you can run before hitting the limit.

Please note these are all "theoretical maximums" not taking into account how loading the battery will affect the voltage (becomes more important when dealing with unregulated batteries).

Unregulated varies from 4.2-3.6-ish, power max range is: 10.5W to 9.0W, 1.68 ohm to 1.44 ohm minimums for your atty.

The vast majority of attys, clearos, cartos and the like exceed these minimums, it's the DCC that tend to play in this sub-1.9 area with regularity. eGo batteries do work with DCC, but the performance is lacking. A DCC really shines when you can give it plenty of amps at a reasonably elevated voltage.
