Hello! New to the forum, at least for posting anyway, I've been lurking for over 2 weeks...Today my husband and I decided to go ahead and try e-cigs (I've been trying to convince him for over 2 weeks since he attempted to quit cold turkey and things haven't been good...:() I'd like to say this forum has been so informative it's helped me get him to try vaping. However, I'm noticing something....I smoke, about a half pack a day, and I'm noticing I'm using the disposable e-cig more than I usually smoke analogs....is this normal?

I'm not sure if it's that the nicotine mg is too low (I smoke camel menthol analogs typically) Or if it's just that I'm liking the cleaner flavor of the e-cig??

Strange as it sounds, I'm almost concerned that I may find myself more addicted to vaping than I am to analogs?....Confused....

I could have smoked more than I did but cost and just not wanting to smoke as much held me back.

When you start vaping, the idea that your off cigs is sort of freeing. You aren't hurting yourself or anyone else with second hand smoke, you aren't stinking up the house or car. It just sort of feels great. Plus, your trying new flavors and it's sort of fun.

I think the novelty wears off a bit. Or it could be that you need higher nicotine. I vape too much if my nicotine is too low.

I smoked about 15 cigarettes a day, and I vape non-stop and have since I began. However my husband only vapes here & there, and some days he doesn't vape at all at work. So everyone is different. I just think I am more addicted to the hand to mouth, the inhaling and the holding something in my hand than my husband is.

Best wishes!

Thanks for the response! I'll keep that in mind. I do notice that my husband hasn't picked up his analogs since he got this one this afternoon. He's gone 8hrs now without an analog and he's in a good mood, which he hasn't been since he's been trying to go cold turkey...this may work!!! I'm excited! Now to pinch a few pennies and get started on ordering full starter kits and some cartomizers and ejuice!

Hi,
I started vaping about 3 weeks ago with the 18mg and vaped about the same as full flavor analogs and didn't feel very good by the end of the day. I was a chain smoker, always a cigarette in my hand, so I didn't think I'd get too much nicotine, lol, but now I'm thinking that may have been the case. I had also gotten some 11mg carts for my Mom to try, and I don't have the not quite queasy, almost shaky, slight headache thing going on with the 11mg.
It's really hard for me to discern between analog withdrawal and getting my juice right. I was down to 6 or less analogs a day from 2+ packs a day before I started vaping with the 18mg, now my analogs are up to 8-10 a day with the 11mg (2 days now), but I still feel better. Analogs are tasting worse and worse, I really want to stop them totally!

I know how you feel Strallberry! this is day 1 of trial disposables (because quite honestly 12 bucks per disposable will get too expensive fast!) but I'm not sure where our adventure into vaping will go, I was smoking 1/2 pack a day, and I know this tastes better and I like the less burning feeling in my throat, but We'll see how it goes. I hope the analogs keep tasting worse for me, and for my husband!!!

I'm not sure, I think that part of it is the novelty and getting used to the different feel of the vapor opposed to smoke itself...maybe that's what I'm trying to put a pin on. All I know is I'm just noticing the difference right now. I'll see how it goes tomorrow at work. I'm glad I'm getting responses, it's helping me see that newbie-ville isn't so scarey lol. I'm a rather introverted person, so making my first posts here has been enlightening and very positive. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to ecf....congrats on switching to ecigs.
Believe me when the taste buds come back......the analogs will taste like an ashtray that you forgot to empty....
It takes some longer to make the switch to ecigs due to a lot of factors....a big factor is the other chemicals in analogs that our bodies can be addicted to.....besides nic....there is no time table, just don't pressure yourself. The goal is to cut the cravings out totally using ecigs, and since the delivery is different,(our bodies absorb the nic differently than with analogs), it is a process....But the only thing vaporers really give up in the end, are all those other chemicals....A learning curve for sure, but our basic behavior remains the same....and I believe that is one reason that this works so well.....and it is just so much healtier.
Good luck and come back often.

:)

Hmmm, I def vape more than I ever smoked.. I used to smoke about a half a pack a day. Now I vape pretty much all the time (except when at work.. Only during lunch). They say it's cheaper to vape, but that's not the case for me.. I think the biggest reason for this for me is that I can smoke indoors which means that I don't have to put on my shoes and deal with the cold whenever I need a fix..

Don't be concerned about being more addicted to vaping than to analogs. One is a healthy choice and the other is potentially lethal. You have made a wise choice to switch to vaping. It's much more enjoyable than smoking. Just give yourself some time to adjust to the change. I started with 18mg juice, but it wasn't really high enough, so I went to 24mg and have been using that for the last 5 months. Everyone has their own comfort level. Disposables are fine just to try, but you will need to buy something much better. I use an ego. Plenty of advice on this site about what to buy.

I have found that in the morning, I need to start off with a higher MG and work my way down through the day. By late evening, I am usually vaping no nicotine juice. I started with 18mg and vaped that stuff for about a week until I couldnt tolerate it for some reason. I started getting that sick feeling. I downed my nic to 14 mg and after another week, I found the same happened. Now, I start off in the AM with 12mg and vape for most of the day, then I go down to 6mg or no nic for the rest of the day. Or I keep 2 pvs loaded. One with 12mg and one with no nic, so that when I feel the need to chain vape, I have the no nic at hand to vape my head off.

My 2 cents.

I vape much more than I ever smoked. I enjoy the flavors available more than I enjoyed tobacco. I also love the fact that I can vape to my heart's content and not feel like I am killing myself. If I tried to smoke as much as I vape, I would never be able to take a breath nor walk up the stairs to the bed room. And the money I would have to spend on cigs would break the bank. Vape as much as you want. In the long run, it is much cheaper, and it is going to be much healtier for you too.

I am going through 3 times more liquid than my husband and I'm sure I'm getting more nicotine than I ever did with cigarettes because not once have I felt the "gotta have one right now" feeling.

I thought I would have to be locked up and tied down to quit smoking, so for now I'm going to keep doing what is working for me and eventually I'll try to taper it down.

If you can, keep buying the disposables until your kit comes. We got lucky because we ordered two Luci disposables, and I waited so long for them to arrive that I ordered 2 kits and some juice in the meantime. Our disposables came one day and the kits came the next so we were able to switch over 100% right away.

I remember trying to talk myself out of it with the disposable, then I would think that maybe I just wanted to use disposables all the time and there was no way I could afford that, etc. It was the cigarettes talking.

Good luck, it was fun to read on the other thread about how excited your husband is too :)

Thanks for the good tip, that may work well for me. I have to get more supplies tomorrow and will give it a whirl!

Listen to your body. It will tell you when it's getting too much nicotine. My indicator was a headache and a very upset tummy. Funny enough, I only got that from smoking too many cigs. The nic in the vape is cleaner and is received into the bloodstream differently (mouth vs lungs) and you can't compare the two (cigs to e-cigs) in terms of "how much does it contain in relation to what I smoked in the past". You get a lot less nicotine per mg with vaping

I started off with 16mg and it was too low for me. I felt terrible, like when I tried quitting smoking. When I upped to 20mg, I felt awesome again. As I have gone along, I have just inched down on the mg of nic in my juice (I mix my own) and vaped without forcing myself or restricting myself. I vape when I want to. I am down to 14mg now, and have maintained that for a couple of months, I will drop some more in the future, but I am not intent on rushing the process. I enjoy my flavors, I still have the hand to mouth habit, but it's nowhere near a frequent as what it was. I figure one day I will realize that I haven't vaped in a day or so....meh.. if it happens, it happens. I am just letting my body do it's thing. It's been right so far :)

I started out almost constantly vaping, when I wasn't vaping I was still holding onto it. When you first switch you're still going through withdrawels from all the other junk in regular cigs. These last few days I vape less often than I* smoked but I vape in spurts. I chain vape for awhile then quit for sometimes hours. Then begin the cycle again. If you start to feel lght headed or nautious take a break you're over doing it.

Tests show that ecigs deliver much less nicotine per puff than tobacco cigs. We vape more to maintain nic levels. Ringing ears, nervousness, and nausea are symptoms of too much nicotine. Remember that feeling the first time you ever smoke a ciagarette? You felt dizzy, had cold fingers, and your ears rang. Then you did it again until your body accepted it and most of the side effects went away.
