The usual cause of a center contact not touching is excessive force when installing the atomizer. The center pin is suspended in a silicone insulator. Push too hard and it recedes back into the insulator and doesn't contact the charger center pin or the one on the atomizer.

As long as you don't press the fire button, you can use tweezers or a flat mini screwdriver to work the center pin back up until it makes contact again. Once you raise it up a little, install your atomizer gently until it makes contact and then give it no more than 1/8" turn to snug it down. Overtightening will just result in damage and failure to make contact with the atomizer again.

This is a common problem. Be gentle. ;)

Thank you Dave for the information on the construction of the connector.

Good to see someone who works at a vape store. Would you say its fairly common for units to come back to the store? When you speak of questionable battery, I took it that its not that uncommon.

Well, usually our eGos hold up decently if they are treated right. Like Dave said, if the atty is torqued on too much it will cause it to not make connection. That is what I was alluding to in my previous post, just didn't say it as eliquently as him. When I said questionable batteries, I meant batteries that just weren't charging or not firing an atty. Nine times out of ten it is the center pin being pushed down into that seal, however these questionable batteries aren't too common, as we tell people to only put the atty on til it is handtight, and overtightening can damage the unit.

Back in the days of the early eGo and Riva mods there were posts several times a week on pulling up the pin to fix a non-firing atomizer. Anything with a sharp edge can be used to nudge it back up enough to make contact. A small drill bit tip or a paper clip with the end bent over just enough to make a tiny right angle, or even a large needle will do it. Alternating tugs on one side and then the other usually works best. You just need something that will dig in lightly and pull it back up enough to make contact again.

Thanks ronnbert. It appeared to me that it would be common sense to avoid overtorqueing the components. It seems most failures are due to mechanical stress and are not electrical in nature.
