I've had my Ultramax for a few weeks now and it has worked flawlessly minus the Res Cracking, which was dealt with amazingly. Now I have a new issue.

I have cleaned it top to bottom about 5 times now, fully taken apart but after last night, it only fires about 20% of the time and the hits are weak.

I find that if I push to fire and turn the battery tube a quarter turn it will always fire but will only last for about 2 seconds.

Anyone have any tips or ideas about what could be wrong. I wipe everything out with a barely damp cloth and drypolish for a few minutes. Nothing is stuck on the awitch that I can see.

You get it working correctly again?

Kind of. I tried the cleaning methods mentioned above and it made a HUGE difference in the amount of "push" needed to start firing, but there is still a few degrees of rotation of the battery tube (sorry if that didn't make sense) that will not allow the atomizer or cartomizer to fire. If I turn the battery tube ever-so-slightly, while keeping contact, it will fire as usual.

I have tried various atomizers, cartomizers and batteries and can consistently reproduce the results. Its not a huge hassle I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something I did/am doing.

I went through a similar problem at first, and this simply may be due to the floating switch design. Try unscrewing your atomizer, then push the black plastic bushing of the switch up towards the atomizer as far as it will go (don't push on the brass post, this will pop off the atomizer connection pellet), and screw the atomizer back in. Applying some vaseline to the o-ring inside the switch might help also.

I had this happen to me.
Take the switch out of the interface. Push the plunger until the pellet pops out. Don't lose it!!
You will most likely see that the flat side of the pellet has oxidized. It will probably be even worse on the top of the plunger post.
I use very fine steel wool to burnish it off both places. I've noticed that the oxidation is much worse if you vape at 6v.

I didn't think about that. When you switch out atomizers it does push the battery housing out a little bit. Try pushing the switch housing back in all the way and then trying again. This could be your problem. Good thinking voxlet!

Hi,

I'm having the exact same problem as seaweedshark. My ultramax just isn't firing. I've cleaned the whole unit thoroughly and yet it still won't work. Does the pellet come loose? I'm pretty much convinced that the problem is switch, and I can't seem to dislodge the pellet? any help would be appreciated. Cheers

this happens to me too...my switch is the new nickel plated switch so the pellet will not come off but i still have problems firing it sometime.. i have to slide and turn the battery sleeve until it fires... been using it for nine days now.

Both of you try this. Sometimes the switch housing gets pushed down to far towards the battery, making the atomizer contact farther away and harder to activate. Try pushing the black part of the switch back down inside the atomizer interface, screwing on the main body, and then screwing in your atty. This should make all the connections tight again and fire every time. Try that and see if it works.

Another side not, every time you take apart the alphas, always make sure the switch is completely pushed into the atomizer interface and that the atomizer is the very last thing you connect. That way it wont get pushed out to far before you can connect the battery to it.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried what you said, and sometimes it works fine for a period of 10/15 minutes, and then it stops working all together. I ordered a new swtich assembly off you a few days ago so hopefully that might solve the problem, can't think what else it could be if that doesn't work!

Having inspected the switch closer, the 'pellet' seems to be at a slight angle, not flush. Do you think that this might mean its not making full contact with the atomizer?

Sounds like it. Although mine isn't totally flush and she consistently fires after a good cleaning

its really frustrating. Its got to the stage now where it won't work at all. It will occasionally fire if I keep trying and rotating the battery sleave

Interestingly, i've marked the battery sleeve at a particular point where it seems to fire regularly - any reason why one particular position would fire?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

I'm not sure why it would only work in one particular spot, it should work no matter where it is. Which model do you have?

I've got the ultramax - with the newer version of the switch I believe. It seems to be working fine today, which is strange. Like I said, i've ordered a new switch from Innovapour so hopefully that will clear the problem up

Be sure to let me know what happens once you get the new switch in.
