Not getting good flavor

So I'm fairly new to vaping. I started off with a cheap pen battery and aspire cheapo tank. I'm now using an mvp20 and aspire nautilus tank and a ipv50 with a big dripper tank/rba. Now here's my predicament. With the aspire tank all my juices are full of flavor, and delicous. However, I just built the big dripper rba and am not getting good flavor AT ALL. It was built with 24awd nichrome, running .2ohms, at 35 watts and 3 volts on the ipv2 box mod, and with what is supposed to be high grade Japanese cotton. So why am I not getting good flavor?

On a side note, and this might be my answer. After it was built my buddy put in 3mg 20/80 pg/vg Fruity Hoops juice. I vaped it for a few minutes and hated the taste (which was sort of strong). So I heated the coils and blew on the cotton to burn up the remainder of the juice. And it hasn't tasted good since.

Should I replace the cotton and see what happens? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Flavour is directly attributed too air flow voltage and set up and condition of the coils being used through trail and error you should be able to differentiate your problem take a draw with no power being applied if you get a nice mouthful of air your airflow is fine try increasing of decreasing your voltage to see if that stops charring of the wick and improves flavour and for the condition of the coil on every build (with no cotton inserted ) do a test fire all coils should burn evenly between a small hotspot is all it takes to ruin the flavour of a tank of the coil is good use a very fluffy and small amount of cotton as when soaked it expends quite drastically which will give you weak tasteless hits which should be easily identified by a small amount of vapour being given after draws

I did decrease the wattage to 20w and it seams to taste a little better. But still not great. I will rewick it and post back here. And about dry burning the coils, I only fired them and blew on them until most of the liquid was gone. Is this not recommended? I figured it was just like taking a pull but without inhaling the vapor.

And fishtec, I will keep that in mind. This is my first RDA, and I've recently been doing a lot of reading about building coils, ect. I will tinker around with it and probably build some different coils, maybe at a higher ohm, and rewick it and post my findings. I'm getting plenty of airflow also.

And I haven't tried kanthal, but I recently heard it's better for flavor. I might have to purchase some and see how it works.

Contrary to popular belief, there isn't any need in running super low ohms on these high powered devices unless you're trying to push them to their max output, even then .2 ohms is probably too low.

At .2 ohms & 35 watts, you're only putting out 2.6 volts. Try a 1 ohm coil at 35 watts and you increase the voltage to 5.9 volts. I bet you'll enjoy the vape much more.

Yep to the above. With a regulated device there is generally little need to build a subohm coil; you regulate the power through the device.

Yep... everybody wants to be in the sub-ohm group though. The only time you "need" to sub-ohm with the high powered devices is when you want to reach the max voltage threshold. On the ipv2 you can reach the max output of 8.5 volts & 50 watts with a 1.4 ohm coil. And have a lot more surface area on the coil to produce vapor. Just sayin.

ETA... when you get into the 100 watt + mods you'll have to sub ohm to reach their voltage threshold.

I really appreciate everyone's responses. Apparently, I've been brain washed by a buddy that only believes in sub-ohm builds. Haha. He believes that the lower the resistance, the more power, the bigger the clouds. I'm going to test out some higher ohm coils tho. Again, really appreciate it, and feel free to add anything else you all think might help me!

Try building a 1 ohm - 1.5 ohm coil - I bet you'll love it!

I only run 1.5 ohm coils on my DNA 30 devices.

Try it and if you don't like it it's just a few minutes of time and a little wire. Bet ya you'll be happy though. :)

Your buddies theory holds true on fully mechanical devices, for the most part anyway, wicking plays a role too, but on a regulated device... low resistance can hurt you in the performance area.
