I've always been sensitive to smells, and an improved sense of smell has always been a problem for me no matter how I had quit smoking. It had also always been one of the reasons for starting again.

Either vaping still reduces the smells around me somewhat, or I reached a point of no return after smoking 40+ years, or the vapor masks some of the odors, because this time is not as bad. But it is still a problem, especially with perfumes and such. For me the supposedly "nice" scented products are far worse than the organic smells.

So everyone talks about when they quit smoking how wonderful it is to smell and taste again. Now that I am 9 days into not smoking I remember what I hated about quitting last time. The world STINKS!!!!!!!! 8-o

Yes I know I stunk when I smoked, but I didn't notice the smell. :p

Now I can smell all kinds of things and oh my is it unpleasant. I am sitting at my desk trying to figure out what the heck that awful smell is, is it me? <sniffs shirt> No, not me. I am looking all around to figure out what this smell I keep catching is only to find when I open my drawer that it is the rubber bands I keep there, they smell kind of like dog pee or something. Blech!

I have run across all kinds of stinky stuff, I miss my inability to smell, I really do! :?:

Pffft - that's nuthin'. You apparently don't have any pre-two year olds. Or litter boxes.

That's just poop n pee. Change that diaper and have that fresh powder and lotion smell, at least for a bit.

Now,10yr old boys-summertime. Never remember deodorant, afraid of soap in the shower. Run everywhere. Passes gas alllll day long. Stinks from June til Oct. Ish.

Heh, I did my time with all of that nonsense! My now 22 year old son has finally figured out personal hygiene is a lovely thing!

The ferrets on the other hand...... They still leave the "bathroom" clean up to me.

I never could deal with perfume and such, always stuffs up my nose and gives me a headache.

Heh... our son went from one of those allergic to soap and water... to a metrosexual or something. Never seen someone groom facial hair for that long. But he was so fair, both skin and hair, when he was young, he's probably just thrilled to finally have VISIBLE facial hair. :D

Beards are the thing right now. My son looks like Grizzly freakin Adams! The kid made his own beard oil gor goodness sake and wants to compete in beard competitions. I kinda love it though, it's his thing. :)

Our son has been away from home for awhile, but when I last saw him, he couldn't yet grow a solid beard, his cheeks hadn't filled in yet, but he had a great little mephistophelian goatee. But, considering his dad (somewhere between grizzly adams and ZZtop) and my dad (who he gets his increasingly bald head from, and who also spent many years between grizzly adams and ZZtop), I have no doubt that before he's 30, he'll have a FULL beard. But it'll probably still be red. :D

I had one like that. He spent more time faking a shower than it would to have actually taken the shower. Then he discovered girls [emoji6]

I'm glad I regained my sense of smell and taste. For years my Mother complained about the smell of cigarettes. We thought she was crazy. A year and a half later, I absolutely detest the smell of cigarettes. Never smelled them when I smoked, heck I couldn't smell lots of things when I smoked. For me it's been a blessing.

ROFL, yup...There is all kinds of stinky stuff. Surprise! It's not you. It's the world is full of odors, some very subtle that you can't smell while you're overwhelming your sense of smell and taste buds with ciggies. The folks that can smell the roses are usually near roses ETC.

After I quit I had the same feeling as you. The neighbors uncovered septic tank was tremendously annoying whereas I've been around that kind of smell before and it didn't phase me.
When I step on doggy poo I smell it for hours after I wash off my boots, the same when my cats poop on my arm which happens every time I pick one in particular up to pet him. (gotta get some iams)
I live right next to an expressway. I can smell the alcohol in the gasoline of cars going by.
I don't think it goes away. You're just going to cover your nose or move to a sweet smelling location.
But be warned. Sweet can be a drag also.

Nose plugs? (when you're not vaping of course.)
