Gasoline, today, is at 1.6€ a litre here in Portugal. That's about 6.08€ per US Gallon. That's about 4.5 USD.
Portuguese prices are above the EU average gas prices.

On the other hand, the country is almost bankrupt, and the PM was just resigned a few hours ago.
Oh well, let's just vape some more.

We have "socialized medicine", but the service has such long response times that everybody ends up having insurance premiums also.

Are you sure?
(think a US gallon is 3.8 liters)

i did the cal on 4,5 liter pr gallon.

Minimum wage per hour is $7.25 in the U.S.

wow, that is low.. Ours is bout $20

The difference is due mostly to taxes imposed on the gasoline in Europe to pay for socialized medicine. Instead, we pay insurance premiums.

Taxes on everything.... Bet they skim the milk, plenty to pay for the big politicians retirement..

How much do you pay for that insurance?

Was it something I said?

I know this was directed at Europe, Portugal specifically, right? But I'd like to ask if they can all even buy insurance? Most of my life I've been uninsurable, as in no amount of money was good enough. I've been self employed my whole life, so there is no group plan for me, meaning pre-existing conditions eliminate me from being able to buy insurance, even if I could afford it. Where is the freedom of choice the proponents of US current policy talk about? Oh yeah, it's in communist Europe where even under socialized medicine people have the freedom to buy insurance that nobody will sell to me!

Same thing: Pre-existing conditions can mean no insurance company will sell you insurance.
