I too had a bad experience when with the first device i tried. not going to name any names but it is from a certain company that likes to hire actors and run a bunch of commercials claiming how great their "azure" product is. I would highly recommend checking out grimmgreen on youtube and see what he has to say about the ego-c twist. This battery tipped with a vivi nova tank that pbusardo and many others give shoutouts about may just turn out to be a lifesaver for me. I give both these guys props for their informative vids and taking the time out of their busy schedules to inform newbs like myself.

I watched his review last night about the twist! I was for it, then saw the comments under it where he said that

"yeah a small pocket friendly 1000mah variable voltage battery is totally fail. You gotta remember when this came out, there was NOTHING like it on the market. It changed the game and how there are 100 ego twist copy cats."

So then we started thinking towards the Vemo.

Nothing wrong with a Vamo.......but I would suggest gettign an Ego twist (as previously posted). Get a startet kit!!! Comes with two batteries, two clearomizers, a charger and a carrying case!! Good starter kit.
You need to find if vaping is right for you---before you start investing in APVs, VV devices and the like. Start out simple, find what you like and then build your collection.
I started out with a Blu starter kit at firts. Took some getting use to, but knew vaping was for me. I found the lack of vapor and poor battery life of the Blu's wasnt going to work for me. I then moved on to an ego twist.....and fell in love!! I discovered what vaping was about, and realized what I had been missing!! I got the vaping bug.....(BEWARE of the vaping bug)!! Once it bites you, your wallet will be drained!!! Over the last 5 months I have spent thousands of dollars on Mods and accessories.......and vaping was supposed to be cheaper than smoking!! Oh, well. Now I have something to show for it, cool shiny toys, awesome glass tanks, batteries I can resuse over and over again. Where as before all I had was an ash tray full of STINK BUTTS!!
My case is pretty extreme, and hopefully you wont go bankrupt breaking into the world of vaping--but beware--once your hooked it is HARD TO STOP!!! Vaping for me has now become a HOBBY instead of a HABIT.

Oh no, this can not become a hobby! At least not for now. Thank you for all your advice. I am going to look into the twist again, despite what I wrote above. The reasons why we started to look at the Vemo over the Twist was because for me, this may not be forever but for him it definitely is. He has no plans whatsoever of stopping. My plan was to hand the Vemo off to him whenever I gave it up (if that happens!).

So in attempt to quit smoking, my doctor recommended this. Vaping. He gave me a print out with all the info and I followed it. Ordering a 5V WOW mod, DCT 1.5 cartomizer, dual coil tank, batteries, charger, etc. It was kind of a rush so we didn't have time to research and we had to do it somewhat cheaply to buy one for me and him. Bad combo, I know.

When I first tried it, I felt like my chest was on fire and I couldn't stop coughing. Horrible. So we realized it could be the PG and switched to VG only. Bought the punch, tried again. That helped for the most part but still.... I hate it. Half the time, it takes forever for the cartomizer to totally saturate, then it gurgles. His constantly leaks and it drives me insane. The vapor isn't smooth at all, it is like a punch to the throat. What is going on, is there something I am missing here? I try to search for tips but hardly have the time. I don't want to just give up because we have been giving this a go since oct/nov but I am just so irritated with all of this!

Idk exactly what the problem is but I'll just throw this out there - I personally can't stand cartomizers and get a off taste and itchy throat too so you might wanna just try something else before u give up. Since you are already familiar with a mod I'd recommend a Vamo. You can PM me if you want to know more about any batteries needed, or how to set it. Or just ask here. I use a Vamo myself - great versatility and durable too.

I, too, started on the cigalikes (and, yes, I ordered the Blu pkg--what I DIDN'T like about it was the lack of battery life--pure and simple! Otherwise, the taste, convenience, and most of all effect on my health was stupendous! I was vaping for over a year before I discovered this board, and by then I had found some great sites to get some really good flavors of ejuice (I really like the juice from Totally Wicked--but again that is a personal preference). The first thing I found out when I came on this board was about ohms, voltage and battery life--hence the moving up from the "Blu" styles and cigalikes to the Riva 510 Ts, and just recently I ordered my first VV - an Ego Spinner (similar to a twist, but the numbers on the bottom of the battery are easier to read). NOW I have a chance to experience my ejuice in all its glory! I'm a big fan of deals--especially if the vendor is reputable, do when I find a juice I like I'mm always on the lookout for discounts. You'll find many online suppliers that offer first time discounts,samples, and even coupons. The best word of advice I am going to repeat for you is to get yourself a "sample pack" of different juices (maybe higher PG--less VG since you are not fond of the heavy chest feeling) as well a picking up some good clearomizers, an Ego twist, and some simple attys or cartomizers and experiment. You WILL find what works best for YOU. If you have a question--about anything--don't be afraid to ask it here. Someone can usually give you an answer you can live with. Lastly, CONGRATULATIONS on making the decision to quit smoking and WELCOME to the wonderful world of vaping!!!

You are correct, vaping can be fiddly. Some setups leak, some just will not tick the right boxes for you. There is no perfect set up, but that does not mean there is not a perfect set up for you. If you would like to quit cigarettes, do not quit vaping quite yet. This forum is an exceptional resource to resolve any question you may have.

Firstly, the action of vaping is not the same as smoking. Rolygate wrote an excellent write up that helped me:

You can quit cigarettes, but it takes research.

It is not the matter of research your intention is the main factor to quit.

You undoubtedly need the motivation to quit. That has to be there for any alternative to be successful. Also, when starting out vaping, patience is truly a must. You might have to try several juice/carto/tank/mod combos before you stumble on that one that works perfectly for you.

It can be frustrating at first, but just remember that you are making an investment in your health, and quite honestly, you could drop a few hundred dollars on different vape gear and not even come close to what you most likely spend on traditional cigs. Keep checking this forum and there are quite a few youtubers out there that are dedicated to reviewing equipment and juices that can really help give you an idea of what you may want to try....and not try.

The recommended wattage is somewhere between 4.5-8 watts for most applications and juices (dual coil cartos are different, because you are working with two 3Ω coils even though your carto's resistance is only 1.5Ω--they can be safely used on your 5v mod-- I just personally don't care for them).

Twist is a good battery, so is Vision Spinner. If you are ready for another mod, Vamo is a good start; Sigelei Zmax V2 or V3 are even better--but more expensive. Get some Kanger clearomizers also; I like kanger T3, eVod and ProTank (if you get the vamo or Zmax).

And finally, try to find some mild tasting eliquids, 70/30 PG/VG ratio is nice.
