Not impressed with Black Satin coating, perhaps a warning to others? :-(

That's why I went with silver. I wanted another color but based off if how hard I am on things I figured good ole silver fit the bill.

I have a silver mini, now, and I really want another one in black. It appears that these are isolated cases. I may simply risk ordering a black mini and deal with provape, if any issues arise.

The big update:

What a prompt and pleasant reply from ProVape... :)
------------------------
Hi Reginald,
Oh dear. I am very sorry to hear this is happening so soon. The colored finish is a durable cerakote that will succumb to daily use within time, although it should not be showing excessive signs of wear so soon. If it is stored in your pocket or near anything metal like coins, this will definitely speed up the process of normal wear and tear. I might suggest a carry case or caddy to extend the life of the paint. The good news is though, I would be happy to exchange your tube for you as I do not believe it should be fading so quickly. Below are the return instructions.
Please fill out the attached form and include it with your return. RMA’s that do not include the form will be returned to the customer at their expense.
Return address:
blablabla....

There is still places where customer service has meaning in this world... :)))

Looks like from the answer, and comments in here, that mine is one of those flukes...

so I will be returning it tomorrow and hope the mail systems/customs will be as efficient as ProVape customer service ... hehehe

Thank you all for your input and support, I'll be sure to report back in a month or so, when I have the new one under scrutiny.. ;-)

Cheers all

I have a black one thats 5 months old. It's looking a little rough. I've dropped it a bunch though. I actually like the way it looks with a few scratches. It gives it character. If it didn't leave the house I'd be pretty disappointed though. At least you know not to cerakote your firearms now.

I don't think it's a problem with the Cerakote itself, but in the prep, application, or curing of it. I have a number of Cerakoted weapons & the finish is extremely durable. It's not that hard to apply if you RTFM & follow the directions.

well at least they got back to you and was willing to fix it. I remember there was the blue one earlier and they straight up said something along the lines of: Sorry. cosmetics is not covered under warranty. Tough luck!

btw, I've had my black satin mini for about a month. I've had it wrapped for 2 weeks. Before I wrapped it, I haven't had any issues (other than dings from where I dropped it ^^;; but that's to be expected).

I've had my black mini for 3 weeks, is always in my pocket and I use it at work( maintenance). Still looks like the day I got it, but if I keep catching posts like this I'm gonna have to go silver the next time around. This thing costs to much for that amount of wear that soon. I'm glad they're taking care of your issue.
