Thank goodness for the doublers that I found at Liberty Flights... those are great. But, I just attempted my first true DIY last night with two flavors. I have a Loranne Amaretto and it turned out fine, but the grape has me a little confused. I am mixing with VG, and did 50/50 24 mg. unflavored to VG, and then I added a couple of drops of Lorann Grape. Smelled strong, but no flavor in vape. Added two more drops. Smells strong of course, but still barely any flavor. What really has me bothered with the grape is that is is extremely dark purple in color. I think I am more worried about vaping something that dark in color than I am the fact that I can't get any flavor out of this grape.

Any advise or comment?

I wouldn't worry about the dark color of the liquid. I vape tons of dark colored juice.

How juice are you trying to mix? 3ml? 5ml? 10ml? Don't be fooled by a strong smell because it really doesn't mean anything. I have a very strong smelling coffee flavor, but still need to mix it at 8-10% percent to get the flavor to come through.

Thanks for the reply. I mixed 1 ml of 24 mg unflavored nocotine to 1 ml. of VG. 4 drops of grape. So, you think I should drop some more grape in there? I guess the concern about the color is that I read somewhere that you should be careful of the colors of some flavors because it is food coloring which nobody is really sure about with regard to vaping. I don't know.... purple lungs maybe??? I'm being silly now I guess...

I'm guessing it translates to DIY juice, but when I use Loranne flavors for making candy, their fruit flavors
seem much weaker than the more standard mint, and liquor flavors.

I haven't tried any fruit flavored juice for vaping of DIY so I may be off base, I only use their
flavors that I have found stronger in candy making (they're the one's I like, don't want fruit).

I need to make a correction from my first post here. The doublers that I have purchased were from Tasty Vapor. I love Liberty Flights as well, but I mis quoted when I mentioned them here as they do not have doublers. But I do like Liberty Flight's "Highway" tobacco flavor.

Anyway, thank you for the comments. I will attempt some more drops of the grape. And, yes, I was attempting an end result of approx. 12 mg. I'm not sure whether it will really be a big favorite of mine or not, which is one reason why I am making such as small amount of it, as the only other fruit I have tried so far is cherry, and I'm not a big fan of that one. The other Loranne flavor I purchased is chocolate and now I am wondering if it will be ok without adding a sweetener to it. I never thought about sweeteners until I ordered from Tasty Vapor where they actually let you know if a sweetener is suggested or not. Its all trial and error I guess.

What a great forum...... everybody is geniunely helpful and its really wonderful to see so many people come together for, not only a great concept/product, but to help people who are looking for a healthier alternative to the smoking habit that has taken hold of so many of us. I originally did not pick up my first e-cig for the purpose of "quiting" as I didn't "want" to quit smoking. This has made it so easy that I found pretty quickly that it felt silly to pick up another cigarette when I had this instead. I wish I could talk every smoker that I know into trying it.

I'm probably getting a little off the subject here, but tonight I put together one of my extra batteries and an atty from my 510 and put (atomic cinnamin with no nic) in a cartridge and handed it to my 19 year old son who recently started the habit of buying menthol cigarettes (when he can't even afford to put gas in his car). He has stated to me that he just likes having something to blow smoke with, (and I think there is a "I'm cool" factor as well). My thought is that I would rather him get the "blow smoke" feel from something without getting hooked on cigarettes. If he likes it enough, I will buy him one of his own, and I will be happy to make sure he has 0 mg. nicotine flavors for his e-cig rather than see him get hooked on tobacco cigarettes. In my opinon, this is the perfect alternative for young adults who want the "smoking a cigarette" feel, without having them getting hooked on cigarettes and wishing that they never had when they get older.

I guess what I am trying to say is that there are more positive aspects to the e-cig aside from long time smokers finding a healthier alternative. In my opinon, it could also stop those young smokers who are not yet so hooked that they can't, or don't want to, stop on their own. Its a "cool factor" for teenagers and young adults, and this e-cig is a perfect solution for them. I wish those individuals that want e-cigs banned would pay attention and look at the whole picture. If they actually "cared", they would.

Sorry your first experiment was a flop. I am going to start easy with a Vanilla.

If you check the DIY section's Guide to DIY Flavoring (in its sticky threads), the Lorann's grape is a very weak flavor and would need to be 20-25% of the e-juice if used alone.
DIY e-liquid

The guide also notes for many flavors which have food colorings. They are food flavorings so some do have dyes.

BTW this is a neat video about DIY mixing - about making a 1ml sample first to test your ideas

I highly recommend any of MissNomads videos for beginners and veterans alike. Short, casual, to the point and practical. DIY can be a lot of fun and very enjoyable. Always remember that even failures teach you something so they are not necessarily a bad thing. If you don;t have an e-juice calculator that is a great start.

If your liquid doesn't get exactly where you want it right away don't toss it yet! After the mix pop the cap and dropper and let it sit open over night and air out! Put the cap back on it and let it sit a few days or even a week or more and then revisit it and see if it changes! Single flavors seem to be ok pretty quickly but sometimes multi flavors need a little time to meld together and become one!
The wife and I recently started DIY and have about 6 or 8 bottles steeping right now trying to get it right! Good Luck!
