About three years ago I purchased an iPV 4S and Crown II and, outside of replacement coils, haven't bought anything new since.

The 4S has taken one too make drops/knockdowns and now the batteries don't set firmly. Also 3 of the six batteries have stopped holding a charge and have been taken out of the rotation. Basically it's time to replace them.

Most of the time I vape in the 12-15W range. I've tried to go higher, but I just end up burning coils. I don't mind the lower wattage and it seems to produce a decent amount of vapor. With that in mind, I think I would like my next box to have really good temperature control. Most of my fiddling with wattage on new coils is just getting them to the same hit as the coil before them.

I know the Crown II will probably need to be replace for TC to work properly, but I have 2 tubes of coils I need to use up first. Looking at Anthony Vapes recommended list the Lost Vape Paranormal DNA250C stood out since it was the only dual 18650 mod with excellent TC. But then I thought that might be overkill for as little wattage as I actually use.

What would be a good mod to look at? Should I just bite the bullet and go with the Paranormal? I would like something that uses 18650 batteries since I have multiple chargers for them and would work with the Crown II until I can use up the coils I have on hand. Do they make anything smallish now? The 4S with a tank is a little bulky for my pockets, but size is way down on the priority list.

Also, what would be a good tank to pair with whatever box you recommend? I'm not interested in rebuilding my own atomizers or anything like that. The more plug and play, the better.

SHORT ANSWER:
Hcigar DNA75C if you want replay or Jacvapor sandstorm if you don’t.

LONG ANSWER:
Well there are advantages to the paranormal’s double batteries. If you DO wind up getting an atty to work for you at higher voltages (which I think we can do) and like it (which is a totally different question). The double batteries will. Make for a long lasting device at higher levels.
There ARE single battery mods that will do what the paranormal does though. What makes the paranormal great for TC is the DNA “C” chip. These are put into the mods of several companies though.

The “C” chips (DNA75C & DNA250C) aren’t the only DNA chips available, they’re just the newest type with the newest features. The one big win for the “C” chips is the replay feature. This basically makes TC vastly simpler. If you just want accurate high quality TC but don’t want to mess with replay, an older and much cheaper DNA chip will work just as well.the jac vapor sandstorm is an example of a highly thought of mod of this type

Is this the one you're referring to?
HCigar VT75C Evolv DNA 75 Mod - Silver

What's the battery life like on the single cell mods? Even now with the batteries starting to wear out I can get through a work day with a single charge. I would prefer all day life to a smaller mod (no point if I have to carry an extra battery anyway).

How much of a difference does replay make? Is it nice to have, but almost the same experience as long as the temperature control is good?

Yep. That’s a “c” chip there. It’s why it’s so pricey. The non “c” DNA chips sell for less than half what the new ones do with comensurately price reductions. That sandstorm mod I mentioned has a non C dna75 and can be had for about $65. MTL usually runs under 12w so a single battery mod should go for a fullish day. Call it 10 hours maybe. I’ve got a dual battery MTL device and it lasts me a good 2+ days. The big downfall of single batteries is at high watts. If you had say a fire Luke mesh you were running at 60w you could still get most of a day out of a dual battery mod, but you’d need 3 or 4 batteries to get through the day with a single battery mod.

I have two of the JAC Vapour series B DNA75W. Highly recommended by myself and others on this forum. 75 watt DNA single battery mod with wattage and/or temp control.
My review:
JAC Vapor series B DNA75W

I get nearly a full day's use with the Samsung 18650 30Q 3000mAh 15 amp batteries vaping at 30 watts. You'll get longer than that if you vape under 15 watts.

If you are only vaping around 12 - 15 watts, I suggest the Innokin Zenith tank. It's 0.8 or 1.6 ohm coils would be perfect at your preferred wattage setting. Uses kanthal coils, so not compatible with temp control.

  • Utilizes Zenith Kanthal Atomizer Heads for Variable Wattage
  • *Original and Plexus Edition*Includes (1) Zenith KAL 1.6ohm Atomizer Head (Designed for 10 - 14 Watts)
  • *Original Edition Only*Includes (1) Zenith KAL 0.8ohm Atomizer Head (Designed for 15 - 18 Watts)
  • *Plexus Edition Only* Includes (1) Zenith KAL Plexus Z Coil 0.5ohm Atomizer Head (Designed for 14 - 19W)
