My girlfriend and I were both Du Maurier smokers, I've been smoke free for a week (My e-cig was purchased last august but it got shelved for a while) and now I realize how much we must have stunk, because we'll go out and she'll fire up an analog and I'll power up my LED and we'll go back inside and she's all I can smell. I still like the smell of cigarettes tho I won't lie, so I don't really mind it. But the point is, it's amazing what you can smell when you're not smoking.

I did for a while too, but I assure you it will disgust you after a while.... never thought I would say that. Damn, I'm becoming "one of them."

I still don't mind the analog smell but im glad I don't smell like that anymore! I am worried about what effects vaping will have on us though. About a week after I started vaping I began to get a lil "flemmy" in the throat. I find myself clearing it often. Never had that problem when I smoked analogs. (had many others) Does anyone know if that is normal or if it is caused by vaping?? I was hoping it was my body getting rid of the junk left behind by analogs. I guess I'll find out if it never goes away....

The weirdest thing really - I didnt give up right away and smoked a couple of analogs a day as well as vaping - enjoyed em too, no issues about not enough smoke or hit or taste or anything.
The day came when I loved my PV more, way more and I just stopped having an anlog at all. Wasn't a huge deal in my head, just replaced one habit with the other.
Well, here's the weird part in case you wondering when that was coming, I thought I'd have a drag off one the other night. Just curiosity really as I've been cig-free for about 3 weeks. I don't hate the smell of cig smoke when other people are smoking either btw.
I lit one up
First of all, the fact that it was ON FIRE, made me very very wary of putting it near my mouth. The heat coming off it was huge. This is weird cos I smoked for 20 years and never once remember thinking that. Ever. The next thing was the size - it felt too big.
I smoked Marlboro lights/ultralights. This one was a rare Light that I had knocking around. It was a normal size not a 100.
My PV is a joye510 with a whistletip. I thought they were around a similar size. Apparently my mouth doesn't think so.
I finally got in my mouth, with one eye shut because of the smoke, and really tentative too, and dragged on it. UGH - the smoke was so hot! And it made me cough. And I didn't like it. I got 2 and half drag off it before I put it out. My chest hurt almost immediately after and I was coughing on n off for about 20 mins.
I find all this astonishing. I smoked for 20 years - I enjoyed smoking just grew to hate ciggies - maybe enjoyed 1 out of every 5 I smoked. This reaction still seems very weird to me, but I'm quite glad about it. I'm just shocked.

It's amazing how vaping made cigarettes taste taste so horrible, so quickly too! When I got my first pv on about 19/1/10, I had maybe 12 analogs left in a pack. First day vaping had 2 analogs, then maybe another 6 over 10 days. Gave the last four away a month later! But after 2 days of vaping, each analog I'd try to smoke, I could never get through it. It truly tasted like a burning shoe or a tyre factory! Curse you vaping - I will never enjoy the taste of ciggies again! :)

I know I'm new here but I have to ditto what you all have said. I tried to smoke yesterday, just out of curiosity and the smell and taste gagged me. You know no idea how happy this makes me as I'm also about a 25 yr smoker.

I wish I could grab every smoker I know and show them the light...but many are going to be like I was...and think it won't work for them. Here's hoping they see the vapor soon ;)

Smoked a Marlboro red last night just to see after reading this... I can't believe I used to like those. It tasted like (WHAT I WOULD ASSUME) licking cat litter. It was just awful. So... why did I start smoking again? It had to of tasted that bad when I first started..

I know exactly why I started again so many times.

1-Stress (and boredom)
2-Tastes good with alcohol
3-Never heard of e-cigs

E-cigs do not do the same thing as cigarettes when it comes to drinking unless I vape ALOT while im drinking. (which I do)

It might if I found a perfect tobacco flavor but honestly I think its the smokey part that does it which I will never get with ecigs.

I have to agree with all of the above posts. Love the flavors that e cigs offer. I have only been analog free for 18 days but don't have a desire to even try an analog right now. Hopefully I don't, as I'm concerned that I would probably start smoking again.

I didn't really set out to quit entirely, was just enjoying vaping a lot and one morning woke up and didn't want an analog.

As everyone already stated, hope we don't all find out that vaping has as much or more ill effects on our health that analogs do.

Ugh...I'm still smoking a cig or so a day (can't seem to get rid of that need after 8pm for some reason) and still smoking a pack on the weekend. I did resort to buying a pack of pall mall orange (from what I hear they are horrible) to make it suck more. I don't know if I'll ever be able to give up that late night cig, but I still have hope. I went from a 2 pack a day smoker to a pack and a quarter or so a week....still pretty damn good.

Sounds like someone needs to up their nicotine level!

Really didnt even see that post. I ignore people like that.

We used to smoke, we used to smell... we knew it, we quit, we feel better.

Smokers know what they are doing is bad and they know they smell. Nothing wrong with us acknowledging the fact that since we quit we feel and smell better.

Yup :thumb:

Of course, I may only feel that way because I went from about 30+ 100s to 6-10 a day

Your one and a few more on the weekend are a GOAL for me.

.....its better.

Just wanted to share that I quit smoking analogs about a month after purchasing my first e-cig. I used to smoke Seneca Ultra Lights and they more than did the job for me in the smoke, flavor and nicotine depts.

Ive been quit for over 4 months now.

The other day I was hanging out at my friends house who I havent been able to convince to even try my ecigs. ANyway I bummed an analog from him out of curiosity-he smokes the same kind I used to. I couldnt even get a decent "hit" off of it. ALmost no smoke came out after dragging on it. I was really surprised, I dont know if it was that I was so used to the way I would vape my 510 that I just couldnt smoke it right. Made no sense - I even "blocked" off the little holes around the filter. Weird. Tasted pretty bad as well. I noticed I was holding it, more than I was smoking it.

Anyway, that little "experiement" convinced me I had made the right choice. I love the CLOUDS of vapor I get with my 510 and I love all the flavor choices... my 510 with some 555 or Drewbacco flavor tastes better than any cigarette Ive ever smoked.

Just wanted to share and wondered if anyone else has tried and analog since they switched to ecigs. Did you see the same result or was it just the opposite?

just two days ago, I had burned out my last atomizer. My new ones were on the way and I was having a major nicotine withdrawal. I bought a pack of Marlboro and smoked away. I hadn't had an analog since 10-31-2009, and I hated the thought of getting hooked again. I have been smoking for 35+ years and 1-1/2 packs a day. They tasted nasty, smelled bad and I felt very guilty. My wife wasn't too happy about it either. I got my new atomizers in the mail today and that was the end of the analogs. I'm so happy to be vaping again. I will never (hopefully) run out of vaping supplies again.
