Most of us new to vaping have made the mistake of starting with a less than stellar kit or disposable of some sort, but then continued! Usualy with the determination to quit analogs. I wish I had done more homework and research like this great site with all the fantastic information and helpful people. Here's a vape to all the knowledgable folks on here helping us newbies!:)

One thing I've never understood is why newbies cling so tightly to the cig look alikes. We're (ex) smokers! We're supposed to he the nonconformist bada** rebel do-not-give-a-toss-what-anyone-thinks-of-me "cool kids". So why are we so afraid of looking different than the rest of the smokers?

Most of us needed something close to the size and feel of an analog to by. I don't think I would have been nearly as successful quitting if had had started with a big mod. It's kind of like going from a fiat to a full sized pickup LOL.

I agree ... I feel that many new vapers trying to get off smokes would do well to start with an analog style PV, because in many cases there is a psychological attachment to handling a cigarette.

I made the mistake of NOT starting with an analog style e cig, and as a result 6 months into vaping I had not completely quit smoking ..... why? Because I still wanted to handle a ciggie and the Ego could not provide that satisfaction. I very much enjoyed vaping immediately however, the difference in how a manual Ego functions was enough to remind my psyche that vaping was not smoking... so my replacement plan didn't work at first.

While I agree with you, I must say in the beginning it was so important to have that damn LED light at the end of my PV. One of the biggest reasons i bought my second PV was that it had an Orange LED on the end of it and it was white with a tan cartomizer. Somehow I thought that was the key to me quitting. Holding something in my hand all day that closely resembled an analog. I soon realized that looks had nothing to do with it. It all comes down to vapor and battery. The most important thing to me at this point, is having a device that I can throw on the charger (right before bed) and pick it up in the morning and go! It is so nice not having to charge batteries all day long. Thats all I did the first 3 weeks of vaping.

Honestly I think so many people have success with vaping is not because they are still getting nicotine and the whole hand to mouth thing. It's because were so damn occupied on this forum looking for the next best thing! Who has time to smoke when your burried on the internet all night looking for the next best PV and watching youtube videos.

Just a Thought!

Yep.

But I can't help thinking how many Google victims are out there. Just google "e-cigarette reviews". But, wait! Google now knows who you are so it's likely you'll get the real stuff way higher that you otherwise would. So open "in-private browsing" (Ctrl+Shift+P) in Internet Explorer or "incognito" in Chrome (Ctrl+Shift+N) and see what you get.

well, i'm actually almost 100% satisfied with my normal 510 and normal cartomizers and 24mg juice. I charge three times, once mid day, once at night, and right before bed. I pick up my 510 every 20-30 minutes and I'm pretty happy with "them." The only reason I'm starting to save up for a mid-level PV is curiosity from THIS DAMN FORUM!! :p

I've been introducing my smoker friends to vaping...and the 4 steps are pretty standard...It's very hard to jump steps. I think the only reason I jumped from 1 to 4, was because of how terrible my 1 experience was. I think getting an analog style is an important right of passage. The only thing that irks me is when newbies come online needing help with their analog style pv's and I have no idea what it is (because apparently there are a zillion different companies making low-end e-cigs). When the post starts with "NEED HELP WITH MY [insert random e-cig]!!!", half the time I have to google it, look at the specs, and then go from there. The whole time I'm thinking, "my god, how did they manage to even find this sucker".

I can relate and would agree from my personal standpoint, but as has often been pointed out to me, "Everybody can't be a Warren." (A fact, BTW, for which I've learned to thank God.) There are so many different personality types who smoke and wish they could quit, and now a method exists by which every one of them can! I don't care what works for any of these folks as long as they find it and find satisfaction using it. The pure, simple FREEDOM offered by using PVs instead of cigarettes is priceless, whatever it takes anyone to get there. I'm pretty new to it all and there's a lot of stuff I don't understand but truth is, I don't need to understand it as long as it just works.

This ain't my first rodeo; I've (successfully, so far) fought other addictions, but this one is different because here each of us gets to pick & choose our own battles. Some people intend to get off nicotine entirely. They have my full support & I bless their efforts, but I have no such intention myself. OTOH, what I want today and what I want next week may be entirely different, and from what I've seen on here that can be true for everyone else as well. So, whatever works for you, or me, or anybody else TODAY, is just find as far as I can see. I just realized, I haven't had a cigarette all day, and feel just fine. Been vaping 3.5% nic most of the day and I'm fine with that too. Thing is, I'm gonna have fun with this any way I can, and hope everyone else does too. Happy Vaping! :toast:

I think elfstone hit the nail on the head with this, any newcomer that googles e-cig is met with a barrage of adverts for dubious mail order e-cigs that claim to give you the equivalent of a full pack of smokes in one carto and a 200mah battery that they claim will last you all day. People naturally dont want to spend a fortune on something they may not take to.
In my sunday paper here in the uk is a regular advert for a brand of e-cigs with a starter set for £20 that is supposed to be the equivalent of 200 ciggies. In reality its five little cartos that probably are closer to 20 or 30 cigs in actual use.
