Tripple digits half way to home
My local B/M shop owner sent me a text when I got home last night, saying that he had the new VW devices in. I went down to check em out. I've been wanting to go VW for a while. (Just to lazy to do the math). Turned out to be one of these.
eGo Variable Volt/Watt APV (only Body) [D-B4 APV] - $39.00 : Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail
He offered to let me test it out but I went ahead a bought it outright, cause I really liked the way it worked. Went from a 2.2ohm carto/tank, to a 2.8ohm carto. Got out the "OHMS law calculator" Ohm's Law Calculator
It was showing really close to what I had it set for. Okie Dokie. Used it last night. Got to work this morning and started to type up a review for it. Now the VW part doesn't work at all. When you go to the VW mode and set it for example 7 watts, it goes to 4.1 volts. Change resistance and it stays at 4.1 volts. Change wattage and still 4.1 volts. Now the voltage mode works just like it should. Seems closer to reality than my vmax does. The only things I have to campare it with are my twists, a spinner and an Itaste. So basically it's turned itself into a lavatube. (At least from what I've seen about Lavatubes, cause I don't own one. One kinda nifty point is that you can remove a sleeve and use a single 18350 battery so it can be really short. I can't decide to take it back or keep it and just use it for my RBA's. I already sent a text to him letting him know about the problem. Just thinking it might be a nice sit by the couch pv. I hate to make decisions. Oh and by the way I will now admit that the VW feature is not what it's cracked up to be. You still got to change things for different juices. (Just like people already told me :). Guess I'll wait and see how I feel after I get off work. The kicked SB is still doing just fine but I don't change flavors much on it. Just use the same two basic flavors all the time.

The thing most people say about VW is set it and forget it.... This is so true if you are vaping the same juice all the time, but as most of us know some juices vape different than others and you still need to change the settings. VW is not for everyone for sure. Just the same as VV isn't as well. From what I have read, these devices that have both settings in them are made so as you can only use VV or VW at one time so if you have it in VW mode, whatever it read in the VV mode is not going to be what you are vaping in said VW mode. Not sure if that made sense to you, but basically you can only use it in one function mode at a time. I believe it will give the ohm reading and remaining battery life reading that is accurate in VW mode only. I may be wrong here but that was my understanding from what I have read on the forum so far. I don't have this problem as I have a Vmod XL with a kick installed and only vape one type of juice. Therefore the set it and forget it saying works for me.... I do vape two different mixtures of the same juice and I can tell a difference between the two, but already knew they would vape differently from the start..... I hope some of this made sense to you.

Kinda sort of. Last night when I would change carto's in the vw setting, it would change the voltage to match. Today it never changes anything. The only way it will work now is in the VV mode. Which is fine, but just a flaw in the design of the device. After all we're talking about the complete device for the same price as just a "kick modual." This one also doesn't show battery life, and when you fire the button it stays on for just a moment even after you release it.

Ok my bad!!!!!!!!!!!!! It helps when you finally read the instructions. I was pressing the battery display button, thinking that it would show the output voltage, when in reality it shows remaining battery voltage. WOW proves my daddy didn't call me son cause I was so bright.

So the wattage features still works?

Yes it does everything it's suppose to do. I misunderstood a few things after I first got it. I was so excited to get it home and try it out that I forgot to get the instructions on how to use the function features on it. It's not the best built thing I've got but it does what it is designed to do. I'll recomend it to anyone that is uncertain about going to a VW device. It's a really cheap way to get started. You can use 1 18650, or 2 18350's (I don't really like to do that. I have to do it with the vmax and didn't want another device that used the same stacked batteries), or the part that I really like is you can remove a sleeve and use just 1 18350 for a mini model. I'll be using just the 1 18350 today and find out how it last.

Be interesting to see how you like it after a while. I don't even use the VV on my Zmax, just the VW. I do go up a watt or two, or down a bit with some juices, but really like not having to calculate in my ohms as well. A click or two and it tastes good. I find it very convenient really. Most of the time I'm finding juice is good at the same watts, or maybe 0.5 to 1 watt up or down. That's the value of the variable. It's not meant to be a one watt for everything device, just more convenient when setting it, and not having to adjust to an ohms limitation - unless you like incredibly low ohms I guess.

Sounds like you got a good deal on your device.

Made it super easy to dial in my kicked SB for the RY4 I use on it. And I agree depending on the juice, about 1-2 watts usually will dial it in. Well at least that's what I found last night. Time will be the deciding factor on how it really works. But what the heck, it cost about the same as a carton of analogs and when it breaks I'll at least have a shiney paper weight.

Ok just got the pics loaded. From left to right is a Kicked SB with sleeve, vmax and the new vv/vw with and without sleeve. Short pic is running one 18350. Same sequence in each pic.
