Now I feel stupid

Well. I wish I would have known this earlier. I've been vaping for about a month on an ego style. I posted in the new members forum about bad taste. Now I feel stupid. I thought the coils lasted forever.

Little did I know however, my clearo was just toast! Now I'm on analogs till I get paid. I actually prefer vaping already. I'm not necessarily vaping to quit smoking its more of a side effect. So its not like I'm caving or anything.. But I don't like smoking as much as vaping anymore so I've got to stock up on some ce4 clearos now that I know that!

I'm a noob in vaping so I thought I'd post this sort of as a joke of my own stupidity because its pretty obvious right? Its like a very terrible filament in a light bulb. Of course its going to go out! Haha but for now the analog.. It tastes only fractions better than my burnt out clearo lol

Yeah burnt dry hits are the worst. You might look into a Kanger Protank II mini, and I hear that they have an aerotank mini. Perfect form factor for your Ego, better flavor, better airflow, and you just change the little atomizer inside of it rather than the whole thing. Also, they have a glass tank, which is more appropriate for some of the more aggressive juice flavors. Citrus or spicy sort of flavors. You could probably score one on fasttech or ebay for under 15 bucks

I have over 40 different clearos on hand and just purchased 8 more with extra coils in the classifieds today. I have to make sure I never run out so that I am not running back to cigs EVER! I tried a cig about a week ago took one drag off of it and puked all over mom and dad's patio, I guess I have been vaping too long that I just can't even smoke cigs without getting extremely sick off of them which is a great side effect to have! I love vaping and at least I know I will NEVER go back to cigs! Good luck getting back into vaping!

Thanks everybody for the replies! I know that some tanks are non disposable and you just change the atomizer, but for the time being I am an eBay buyer exclusively, its just a trust thing.. And eBay may have the clearo/carto starter but not the atomizers to put inside. So my best bet is to just go with the cheapo ce4s, maybe I'll switch to the kanger bottom coils when I run into some money (those 5 packs on eBay seem appealing but 10 ce4s is a deal for the same price).. Or are the kangers going to last a whole lot longer? If they do, I may just do that as I know bottom coil experience is just overall better.

If you are in the san diego area id be happy to recoil and wick your atties for you

I greatly appreciate the offer, but I'm actually in Minnesota :/ but as I've already found here, you guys are very helpful and if I was in the area I'd take you up on the offer and ask if I could watch lol

Many "disposable" attys can be re-wicked. Google around for the appropriate tutorial for what you are using. If that doesn't bake your cookies, most disposable atomizers are pretty cheap. Looking to the future, you might consider a simple re-buildable.

In the short term, you could try dry burning your coil. The basic idea is to wash the atomizer, dry it off and then burn it without any e-juice. The coil will eventually glow red-hot and burn off the gunk left over from your juice. You may need to burn and rinse for a few cycles if your coil is really gunked up. Some recommend a long soak in vodka to help cut the gunk before attempting a dry burn. Again, Google about - there are many videos about just about everything vaping related that can help guide you. My wife can get several weeks out of her pro-tank heads by dry burning. We re-wick those heads and get many months of service from each one. (The rubber insulators eventually give out, necessitating a replacement.)

rewicking turns out to be pretty easy; recoiling is.. nvm; but i've done it a few times.
but anyway you can dry burn and rewick a coil like 10 times +.

The thing with CE4's is they are more expensive than a BCC clearo where you aren't replacing the entire thing - only the coil assembly that screws into place. These days "expensive" for a five pack of Kanger replacement coils is only $8.00. With a glass ProTank there is nothing else that needs replacing. Except the glass in the liquids chamber if you break it - and you can get a replacement for it. Cleaning maintenance to keep a Kanger BCC clearo coil going longer is a lot easier to do, just because of them being designed to be taken apart. Just some things to consider.

Ebay is my favorite too. I got my authentic kanger protank II mini off ebay. Its not so much the disposability/what not, it truly is a superior vape. I think the kanger coils may last longer than the ce4 ones too

But if you want to prolong the life can you dry fire clean those as well?

Here is a Little Trick to prolong the Life of a Clearo. And to Extend the time between Dry Burns. And that is to Flush Out the Clearo under Hot tap water every time you refill it.

Vape you Clearo until it is About Empty. Flush it Out with the Hottest tap water you can Stand (or use Tongs to hot it). Gently Thermometer Shake out the Water. Blow out Any remaining water in the Center Tube. Fill and then vape.

The First couple of Hits will be kinda Weak because of the Water on the Coil Wick. But after that, you will be Back in Business.

BTW - Here is One More Piece of Advise.

Always keep a Supply of 6 or 7 New Clearo on Hand. Dry Burning can "Pop" your Coil. And if you wait till you are on your Last Clearo to buy some, that is when your Package gets Delayed in the Mail. Or your Favorite Site sends you the Wrong Stuff.

Plan Ahead. And have Backups to your Backups.

Thx zoi I'll give that a go. Dry burning it worked well and I'll flush it as well next fill!

It Wouldn't Surprise me if you could Double the Time Needed between Dry Burns by Flushing out your Clearo's with Hot Water.

And if you Forget, or are in a Hurry, and need to Refill, No Big Deal. Just Flush it Out when you get a chance.

Thanks for sharing. At least you didn't start by spending $135 on an 'ultimate' v2 cigalike kit thinking you were buying the finest e cigarette in the world.
