mods; I hope this isn't too far outside the rules. I think this is a fair question:

Are there any legal additives to ejuice that can numb the throat? My wife wants to vape but the vape chokes her unless she takes tiny little puffs. I fear that won't be enough to get her switched over. I've tried many builds, Nic levels, VG/PG ratios, etc.

Thanks!

Is she firing the mod properly? When my mom tries to hit my mod she always starts firing it before she starts to inhale. That build up creates a wicked throat hit. So I had to coach her how to use a mod.

I think menthol would be an irritant. To me some Smooth mixed with a bit of Koolada, wintergreen\spearmint\mint, and vanilla would be what I would try. Max Vg.

She fires it OK. I think her problem is the chronic smoker's sore throat.

What is this "Smooth"?

And no mouth hits for her. She hates doing that. She needs clouds to feel right about it. I don't blame her at all.

So we gotta figure out minor lung hits with low-nic that won't choke her. Right now she's making do on a KBOX with The Big Dripper at 8 watts. Yes, 8 watts. CHokes her half the time.

Thanks!

Have you tried reducing the nic level some? Not cutting it out completely, just lower, that tends to be the most "harsh" aspect.

TFA smooth sort of evens out the rough edges but may not totally work in this scenario, it is not a numbing agent. And 3mg on a big dripper is plenty strong. That is easily equivalent to 12mg in a CE4 that many of us start with. Just have to try it and see if this will keep her off the cancer sticks. maybe mix a 6mg and a 3mg.

Doesn't sound like you are mixing juice. But if you are, high quality nic may be the answer. VT, Nude, or carolina extract.

She does like it at 3 mg/ml Nic, no choking. But that won't be enough nic for her to quit smoking.

Catch-22 anyone?

Thanks!

It might be enough to get her started, generally people get used to the sensation of the vapor, and it gets less harsh.

When I use lower than my usual nic I just end up vaping a lot more, or getting really grumpy.

I've noticed that, unlike combustible cigarettes where stronger puffs means more oxygen to fuel the fire, and therefore more choking heat, with a vaporizer it's just the opposite. On a vaporizer, a stronger puff means more airflow to cool the vapor, and it's the smaller, softer hits that tend to choke me out. Maybe the tiny little puffs themselves are the problem, and she might be better off just taking full-on hits with plenty of cooling airflow.

It's not necessary to just drop cigarettes like a rock -- it took me a month to gradually vape more and smoke less until finally the cigarettes were gone. It can also take some people a little while to become accustomed to vapor, since it doesn't have all that junk in it that BT puts in cigarettes to make them smooth, to fool our bodies into accepting something so hot and toxic as smoke.

She just needs to take her time; vape a little more each day, to try and smoke a little less each day. It doesn't have to be all at once, and all at once is sure not the most comfortable way. She can even increase the nic AFTER she quits the cigs -- I did.

No need to hurry and stress about it.

you can go to any drug store and get an over the counter throat antistetic spray. A couple of squirts of that should do the trick when the throat gets raspy and feeling raw from vaping. I know exactly what she's talking about I suffer from the same thing.

Also if shes hacking she's taking in to much vapor at one time. Fill the mouth with vapor and slowly inhale just a small amount of it and exhale the rest. She does not need to inhale the entire amount that fills her mouth. As she gets better at it she will find a sweet spot as to how much vaper she needs to take in.

No suggestions for a proper clove e-liquid? Clove liquid (when done right) will have a greater numbing effect than any menthol I have tried with less effort. I used to smoke those Djarum Black 'cigars' and they would always numb my whole mouth. Has a much different flavor than menthol, but it may do the trick.
