well folks...

it passed. in a midnight vote where Gov. Dip***t used some very antiquated options to pass a bill. The bill was introduced just 20 minutes prior to the vote, not allowing any time at all for vetting.

basicly ALL NY state residents must register ALL semi-auto firearms with the police. You must also register them EVERY 5 years and pass a background check EVERY DAMN TIME. if you do not pass the check your guns are seized.

The magazine limit is now 7 (seriously? ... did they use to come up with 7...no one makes 7 round mags. but now if we want a 7 round mag were gonna have to pay out the ... for it because there are none in existence that i have ever seen.)
you now have 1 year to sell your 10 round or higher magazines and get them out of NY.

you are now limited to 1, yes one "option" on an semi auto rifle. this includes those handy pistol grips and barrel shrouds so you don't burn yourself.
Grandfathering is kind of in..immediate family can purchase your stuff, but again, same rules if they live in ny.

oh and the fun part? if for any reason johnny law finds you having more than 7 rounds in a
magazine at any time its a misdemeanor.(i think i just committed 20 assorted misdemeanors)

and even more fun ? you now must pass a background check to buy ammo....yes ammo... SO next time you take your kid shooting and stop buy wal mart, if they even bother to sell the stuff anymore plan for an extra 30-45 minutes of waiting, and that is assuming your at the front of the line.

why don't they just light the constitution on fire and wipe their collective butts with it? might have been simpler.

yes my fellow NY'ers this is now considered an "assault rifle" because of the mag, barrel shroud and possibly the grip extending from the stock(sort of a pistol grip considering the HIGHLY ambiguous wording of the bill) Oh and this law applies to firearms owned by those under 18 as well. So that .22 you got your kid for x mas? yep your kid is now a felon ...
this is a .22 semi automatic rifle available nearly anywhere for under $300...its illegal now(unless you register it every 5 years)

they weren't after handguns primarily(which is really odd when you consider it) they were after semi-automatic rifles(aka long guns). I wont give a link, but you can Google it if you like. there is a lawyer in NY working pro-bono and starting a class action lawsuit against NY state. He is against this very bill. because of how it was slipped in at the last possible minute at such a late hour. not too many rifle mags for .223/5.56 mm, 7.62x31/ .308 on the market in the 7 round size. I'v checked there are a few but the 7 round mag costs more than most 30 round magpul mags out there. Now with this new BS law they will be even more expensive because they know for certain we have to have them.

I feel for you, I really do. but on a side note, the most 1911s comes standard with a 7 round mag.

on a side note, i did stop by my local PD today to have a chat with them about this. it has been what 3 days since the law passed and they have ZERO, ZIP, NADDA AND ZILCH info on how i should register my guns. I then asked, so since i have an un-registered gun and am comitting a felony do i need to be arrested or turn in my guns? the cop's answer was "no, i'm not going to waste yours or my time on that." wow...seriously.

They are also in the process of a cost analysis of how much it will cost (in personnel hours) to process the registrations for my small city of around 5,000. Of which an estimated half own firearms of some type. the number is based off how many are currently owned based on data from the ATF. The number of guns owned may actually be higher or lower than what the atf has(some people may choose not to register them) The number the told me was ...$68,000.00 yes you read that right. its going to cost a small city like mine nearly seventy grand to process all this mess. guess who pays the bill? yep, you and me(if you live in NY that is). SO they screw us over by making ......ed laws that will have little or no effect on crime and we pay for it...Great. The cops do not want it, the people do not want it...how in the hell did this pass?

My brother-in-arms, I, oh so entrenched in your corner, can only suggest moving to a less restrictive state. I know you and too many others are trapped by trying to earn a living, raising a family and following the 'laws'. But in your case/state, the pols have spent hard earned dollars to 'buy' votes. Actually, all of us have been raped in the same manner. You WILL be penalized for believing the the Constitution, Bill of Rights and our Founding Fathers' efforts in establishing true freedom. Just check out our kids' public school history books! There's day-um little about who established and made our grand country what it WAS up until a generation or two ago.

I had hoped that I would never see the day where a US of A citizen would be so restricted in protecting themselves and be denied what our FFs were so adamantly concerned about. But I also never expected, in my lifetime, to see our 'government' fire a CEO of a national private corp! Aren't ya glad we have so many pols watching out for our well being while pillaging your wallet. Flag raised...

Times are a changing, but I will not! I know history and history has well documented where we're heading without a 'shot'.

Yeah, I may catch some flack here, but those that may challenge me had best have read AND understand history before they think me a fool!
