I have just finished viewing the live stream of the NYC council hearing on the proposed restrictions on vaping, and I have a few thoughts.

1. I am so ....ing proud of all of you who got up in front of the council and spoke for your bretheren that I just cannot fully express it. Good show, everyone! This is the biggest thing we need; to be in the faces of the people who are realy in control of this process nationwide and letting them know who we are and what it is we do.

2. I would like to see something like a prep session for the next event of this magnitude that takes place, something like a Live meeting online to give a few pointers to the panel participants that would like to participate. I feel that a few of the speakers could have benefited from a bit of a dry run or slight coaching session before the fact. Please understand, I am not getting down on anyone who spoke, but I am a consultant, and polished delivery is my bread and butter. I would be willing to give my time for this kind of effort with other participants here if it would help.

3. I actually think we as a community might want to push for more listening sessions like this around the nation to speak with our body of law makers and correctly inform them on our own terms. One thing I have often found true is that he who speaks first is often heard loudest. Again, setting this sort of effort up is something I would be willing to donate my time and efforts to, if the community feels it would be benefitial.

4. Did I say how proud of each and every one of the speakers I am? Who cares, let's say it again. Job well done, you are each and every one of you a hero today, and we all owe you a debt.

I watched about 1/2 hour of it (the end, was in a meeting before that), and there were a few that really stood out to me (sorry about any spelling miscues):

Russ Wishhart - I know that he reads and posts here - AWESOME JOB !!!
Brad (was on the same panel) - AWESOME JOB !!
Phillip from VapeNY -THANK YOU FOR SPEAKING !!!
Lynnae Jacobsen (SP ?) - She was on the next to last panel and was well-spoken, had facts, and really did a great job up there.

Thank you to one and all !!! The folks who vaped while they were on the panel.....not sure that really got the message across besides a message that we dont care what they think, but I understand why you did it.

Techno - I speak for a living as well, and do a lot of "off the cuff" stuff, so I get where they were coming from, but the ones that spoke clearly and concisely....really stood out!

There were some great speakers there. I tuned in late, but was able to catch the panel that Russ was on.

In addition to all the great information that was presented, there were a couple of quotes that made me smile. A lady said "thank you for letting me get this off my uncongested chest" and a gentleman after her made a point of saying that big tobacco did not build this industry, "this industry was built by victims of tobacco."

I really agree with you, and I would like to just restate that I am |so| not criticising any of the brave men and women who did their part and spoke. Everyone did very well. I would simply like the opportunity to extend some prep work to those that feel nervous or might not show up otherwise because they are afraid of speaking poorly or anything related.

As to the vaping in the council chamber, I was not entirely in favor of it, but I do see a point to it as well. I feel that because it is currently legal, several of the council members may come to the realization as they debate this issue that several people vaped right next to them, and at no point was it unpleasant. That is a thing to be discussed for future efforts.

I watched almost the whole thing, missed the very beginning of the Health Expert's testimony. Not sure how many people are on the committee, but didn't seem like many to begin with, and I thought it was rude for most of them to leave after his testimony. Says to me, "we don't really care what the public has to say"

Good efforts on the part of everyone who spoke. I was impressed.
