I personally don’t go below .2ohm as a rule for safety. .1ohm is very close to dead short. Part of the problem is the ohm meters in devices are only accurate to about .1ohm in the first place. This means you “.1ohm” could actually be anything from dead short up to nearly .2ohm.

My current vape is at .25ohm so I know it’s no lower than .15 actual.

The Drag is a regulated mod, so you can run coils as low as it will still fire them and not worry about overloading your batteries. If the vape is too hot, just lower the wattage. You only need to be concerned about your resistance on an unregulated mod, other than how they make your juice taste to you, of course.

While true I mislike relying on Chinese manufacturing to save me from an explosion. It’s a value judgement though.

On a regulated device the wattage you select and the remaining voltage in the battery dictate the maximum amp draw, not the coil resistance. Mooch has not tested an Ampking 18650s, so there is no way of knowing what their genuine CDR or mAh is. Rewrappers lie and exaggerate the ratings on the wraps as standard procedure.
If I was to guess I would say 20 amps.

A 20 amp battery is good for 60 watts, the Drag has two so you are good for 120 watts. This is of course entirely based on the assumption that you have a 20 amp battery.
I strongly recommend you invest a few bucks and get some good quality non-rewrapped batteries of known CDR as soon as possible.

I recommend the Samsung 30Q or the LG HG2, both good 20 amp 3000 mAh cells.

I respect your opinion but the Voopoo Drag is a good quality device with one of the better chips on the market, the GENE chip. I have two of them. If the coil resistance is too low, the chip won't fire. If he were using an unregulated mechanical, that would be different but a .1 ohm coil is within the acceptable range for that chip.

@Ebbi I re-read your post -
On a regulated device like you have there is no need to use low resistance coils, especially as low as 0.1 ohms.
Coils that low will contain a lot of metal which will take a relatively long time to heat up, and to cool down. In my experience you would be far better off using coils made from more wraps of a thiner wire . A coil with less mass will respond far more quickly, and be much more efficient requiring less power to achieve the same or a better vape. This also means better battery life.

Suggestion -
Put the claptons aside for later
Try dual coils, 26G kanthal 10 wraps at a 3mm internal diameter. Hit them with 65-75 watts and see what you think.
