I've been waiting on the Z-Atty Pro waiting list FOREVER, finally, sick of waiting, I decided to order a DID as it was in stock on the e-vape.gr website. So my DID arrived the other day from Greece, took 10 days in total for a cost of just over $101 CND.

HOLY ^$%! So that's what the buzz is regarding genesis style attys. What an amazing difference between my ol' Boge 3.0s in my VPX Cartomator tanks and this new DID. The flavor is insane, huge plumes of vapor*, and did I mention the taste? The juices I loved are so much better, and some of the juices I didn't like taste great on the DID! I'm sold on genesis attys now, the SS mesh and build-your-own-coil is pretty easy when you get the hang of it.

Now for the *

When I first got it, I oxidized a wick and built a coil and it didn't work. I watched the coil as I was hitting the power button on my Provari and would see almost a little spark between the coil and the top brass nut that was holding the wire in place, then E1, E2, or E8 was inevitable.

I got angry and disappointed that it wasn't working right and immediately built a few more coils, still no luck. I finally managed to get a coil working but manipulating the coils into shape with a toothpick, now the coil fired but with the top coil glowing red hot and the bottom two barely going. I kept moving and shaping the coils with the toothpick until finally all the coils were glowing at the same time.

Now the coils were working, but it wasn't wicking worth a damn. It would wick if I let it sit for a few moments between vapes, I found out that while massaging the coils into position I crimped the SS wick just above the top cap of the DID and before the coils. So again, build yet another wick, and tried loosely wrapping the coil onto the mesh instead of making it tight, BINGO, instant good coil metered out at 1.7ohms and the wick was keeping up with my chain vaping.

So a lot of trial and error building that first good coil and wick but now that it's done W O W !:ohmy::blink::ohmy::ohmy:

Random semi-related question...

On my Provari I use the 18490 1100mah AW IMR's and I'm still on the same two from when I got my Provari months ago, before, when I was using the carto's the batteries seemed to be lasting a good long while (boge 3.0 at 4.8-5.2v), now with the DID and my homemade coil, at 1.9 ohms and 4.2v my batteries are not lasting as long (a lot less time than on cartos). Is this all due to a higher AMP draw? Or are my batteries just finally dying after a long and hard life?

Good on ya and great description of your efforts. How many coils and were they spaced or tight to one another? Attach picture?

I also had a problem with my genesis Maxi (hot spots and etc) and was looking at a solution, started reading the safe wick material thread in modding section, and came upon a nice solution by Quigsworth, I make 3/4 coils for around 1.5-1.6 ohm coils but I also use 100% cotton gauze around the SS wick, look at that video by Quigsworth, space your coil wraps around 1mm each with that cotton/cheesecloth method and i guarantee you vaping heaven. I been using this method for 2-3 days now with a 1.5 ohms coil at 4.7v (4.36v under load) and its been super satisfaction and NO HOT SPOTS or complications :)

hope this helps you as much as it helped me appreciate my rebuildable

Its been said in the wick thread that bamboo has its own taste, i used 100% cotton medical gauze, the first 15-20 toots where tasting "funny" but once it broke-in taste went away. To me the biggest improvement is I don't get hot spots in any way shape or form, and I redid it twice just to make sure it was normal ... As at first I though i had done something wrong lol, but no, even after 2 settings this is running fine without hot spots !!! Finally bliss with my Genesis after almost 6 months of raging at it. This rebuildable atomizer came close to be hammered with a 16lbs sledge so many times :D

I'm on day 3 of this current SS+cotton gauze wick, and i even changed juice and no lingering flavor of previous juice, went from MLV lemon lime spritz to boba's bounty and all i did to make sure flavor didn't cross over was "drying the cotton" with a Kleenex tissue for like 4-5 seconds, this keeps on amazing me !
