I've been having issues with drip tips fitting too loosely on some of the rba's I have (Phoenix, IGO-L). The IGO-L also has a "pop top" that uses o-rings and for me it fits way too loosely. Couldn't find a local source for o-rings that worked...I got the recommended ones (#47) from Lowe's and they were too big. They fit on the drip tips but they were too thick and the tips wouldn't go on the attys.
So rather than ordering replacement o-rings--which I could have done as they are very cheap, but I am impatient--I tried a cheap fix that seems to be working quite well.
What I did was remove the stock o-ring from the drip tip (and the IGO) and placed a thin piece of Teflon plumber's tape in the groove that the o-ring sits in. Then just replace the stock o-ring. This provides just enough thickness to push the o-ring out a bit and give it a little more "bite" on the atty. Worked like a charm for both the drip tips and the I-go.
You may have to play with the amount of tape you put in the groove as my first try pushed the o-ring out too much and the drip tips wouldn't seat in the atty. But the stuff is cheap ($1.25 for a roll that would last for eternity if you were just using it for drip tips...but I figure most people probably have some in their garage already) and easy to work with.
Hope this helps others as it saved me from having to order new o-rings and having to source a hard to find o-ring size (for the IGO).
