Ugh... I had an intro post all typed up and apparently my log-in timed out and the post got eaten. Gah!!!

To sum up the post that died: I'm a 15 yr smoker. Started at 1.5PAD of regulars, moved to 1 PAD lights a few years ago, and ratcheted back to 1PAD ultra lights last year. Got my 510-T kit and 4 samples of 100%VG juice Friday afternoon after a very quick cross country ship from Liberty Flights. On top of vaping I had 4 analogs Saturday and 3 yesterday. So far so good: no nic fits, no headaches, no nausea.

Things I've learned so far: I think I'd be AOK without much (or any) throat hit. I do like a little bit of what I think of as "lung hit", which I'm mostly feeling with the double mint juice I got. Also, it would appear I'm a dripper by nature.

My ultimate goal is to quit it all, vaping included, but we'll see how that goes.

Sounds like you are on the right track! Congrats on making the switch. I'm not a big fan of the throat hit either. I use a variable voltage battery (the SLB eGo-V) at a lower voltage (3.3v usually depending on the flavor), and I couldn't be happier with my setup. Good luck and welcome to the world of vaping! Its a big world out there :)

A warm welcome to you akatina and glad you found the forum. Lots of experienced, informative vapin folks here to answer any of your questions. I too had a few ciggies in the morning when I first started vaping. I understand you want to stop it all, but remember to take it slow! How much mg of nicotine is in the juice you got?

Welcome to the forum ! Congratulations on making the switch. I wanted to quit the stinkies for years but never found an alternative... now that I have found vaping I don't think I ever want to quit !!! There are so many flavors out there it is ridiculous ! I haven't even scratched the surface, I wanna try them ALL !!!

Thanks for the warm welcome, all :)

The juice I got is 18mg, which I knew was higher than might be recommended based on my smoking habits. Since I'm mostly dripping right now it actually works well for me: I get a good hit of nic with just a few puffs and then I'm moving on with the rest of my day. I've not gotten dizzy or nauseated so I'm fairly confident I'm not over doing it on the juice.

I'm definitely trying to take it slow, it would appear the mental aspect is the big issue for me. I'm slowly transitioning my smoking triggers to vape triggers: getting in the car, after a meal, with a cup of coffee. That first smoke of the morning is going to be a hard one to replace...

The early morning ones were the worst. I actually continued to smoke 1 or 2 of them first thing in the morning for about 1.5 months.

I also started with the 18mg in October of 2011 and am now down to 5mg. WHEN you get to the time you want to lower the mg, you need to take that slow and look at the percentages of reduction. Early on, I would drop it by 3mg, but the last time I dropped from 6mg to 4mg was just too much (33%), so I went up to 5mg.

Wishing you much luck in your journey!

Being a psych major I've decided to apply a bit of operant conditioning and association to my transition from analogs to vapes.

I just had my 2nd analog of the day, right before lunch time. I was extremely hungry which for me meant I already had a bit of a headache and was a little nauseated (low blood sugar). Put the analog on top of all that and it was NASTY.

After I enjoy my meal I'm going to head for a vape that I know will be tasty.
