Hi all,

I've posted several times, but never actually introduced my self. First, let's get my dirty secret out of the way. I'm not an ex-smoker. Well, not recently anyway. I quit smoking cigarettes about 15 years ago. I smoked for about 16 years. However, I moved from cigarettes to cigars and then to pipes and then most recently to snus. It would appear I really enjoy nicotine.

I decided that 2015 would be a year of change and so I find myself holding an iStick 20w with an Aerotank v2 on top vaping on some Cuttwood Boss Reserve at the moment. No more snus for me. The topic of this post though is who stole my wallet? I'm sure most of you know exactly what I'm talking about...

It all started one day in late 2014. I don't recall what led me to the Mig Cigs website, but I was intrigued. So I grabbed some cig-a-like batteries and carto packages. $100. I played around with those in that second week of 2015, but they just weren't delivering the nicotine I needed and very little vapor... I gotta have my clouds (btw, I don't inhale into my lungs)! So, I did some research and within 3 days I held a bright and shiny EMUS kit (it sucks, but I was thinking $26 for two batteries, a couple of tanks, and a charger seemed like a good deal) and an iTaste VV 3.0, plus an Aerotank v2. Plus coils, etc. $121.

Oh man! Much better, but those iClear 16s... great right up until you get that dry hit... The Aerotank was great, but when paired with the iTaste, I was seeing a day of use maximum. So, just a day or two later, I grabbed an eGrip (with some coils, RBA Base, etc.). Sweet, portable little setup, but another $100. I know, you're thinking, ~$300, not bad! That's before the juice... Halo, Nicoticket, all that Unicorn Milk... the Boss reserve, more Nicoticket... MT Baker... dear lord, that's $400 in juice. Who stole my wallet?

I received my iStick 20w yesterday. He's a champ... I have my Aerotank on top and that Boss Reserve is mighty nice (18mg).

So, I realize at this point, half of you are commiserating and the other half are preparing responses that include recommendations for new equipment. :) My question is - does it ever end? Will I be able to make it through February without picking up that iStick 30w or 50w and that sexy Kanger Nano? Will I be able to resist Nicoticket's new flavor of the week next week (as if my bottle of Doodle will be done...) It appears we are embroiled in an arms race with newer, better products being released every week (I'm looking at you Ego One! So small, so portable, so sub). Will my wallet survive?

Looking at the '$ saved' in my signature, I think I spent it on 'goodies' so far. I am pretty well set with only a few more things I want to buy...the RTA or RDA...the DiY liquid kit...a few more evod 2's...a different case (looking through case logic now - lol)...some juice...
I guess it never ends...

You know, I think you are the only one that can figure that one out. I tried several things but I have been using the same tooter for 9 months now. I still have the "oh I wanna look" but I have lost the "crap, I've gotta have". So for some, I think it does sort of end when you get happy and satisfied. I fell in love with dripping and I was given the opportunity to try the reo grand and I just think it is the ultimate dripper. I'm not in to cloud chasing. I just want to have something dependable, durable and enjoyable. Good luck to you. I look forward to reading about your next purchase.

LOL...It can slow down once you find the set-up that works for you....or you can become a collector, then there's really no bottom to the rabbit hole.

Good luck on your journey! :)
PS, you should stop by the Nicoticket subforum....but be warned, they will try to convince you you need a reo.

This. I'm grateful I'm in the first group. An istick for out and about and a rdna is all I need :p

Ah the Reo... I have looked, but not touched. It does tickle my stealthy and pocketable sense, but if their ain't no chips in it, I don't know if I can handle it.

Depends on what coil ya put on it. Reality is, most people who try them find the end of the next-best vape gear saga. If you're out and about and your circuit goes screwy or your tank leaks into the mod or you happen to send your gear swimming on accident, you'll come to appreciate the simplicity and durability of a REO. See, no circuit to fail. Liquid's already inside on purpose. If it happens to take a dive in the water, so what. Swap your wick and carry on. Seriously, it's reliable and darn-near indestructible.

My question is - does it ever end?

It is entirely up to you. My advice to all new vapers is always the same--become well acquainted with the setup you already have and learn how to use it properly. They all work--but it may take a while how to use them correctly.

You already have some good hardware. Is it working for you? If not, why not? Remember, more watts or sub-ohm coils doesn't necessarily translate to a better vape, no matter what you hear on YouTube. I am a mouth to lung, low(ish) wattage vaper, and I don't like to fiddle with my gear too much, so I decided that all those shiny new sub-ohm tanks are not for me. Big savings. :)

Read reviews, ask questions, and, if possible, visit your local B&M store and look around. And don't let them talk you into buying a mechanical mod and a complicated RDA or RTA. ;)

Vaping can be as expensive or as cheap as you make it. Be an informed vaper and a savvy shopper.

Good luck and happy vaping.

I will say I'm proud I knew my wallet would be mad...lol.

Wuit cold turkey yrs ago, but throwing back a few w the boys led to bumming one, then another, then....HEY, this canNOT happen.

Got a stick, month later grabbed a Hades, Omega and all the fixins...now wanting to boxes/building (I love to tinker and have been making guitar pedals for a while).

Still trying not to call it a 'hobby' so I don't have to sleep on the couch, lol

It took me 4 or 5 months and quite a few irons in several fires to reach a nice stasis. Ego to weak VV, rebuilding and DIY, finally I'm happy with a cheap tube that puts out moderately high wattage and a nice, airy RDA with some homemade strawberry cupcake.

It took nearly half a year, but all spending in the future will not be chasing anything, merely looking around. Of course, I'd love a bottom-fed mech and a nice high wattage box mod, but I can easily survive without.
