My results and opinions so far:
TFA Root Beer - Dayum, this is some powerful stuff!!! I mixed a 5ml at 5% with a little Bavarian Cream thrown in. Totally unvapeable. (pause to steep for a week... no change) Diluted the entire mixture down with unflavored PG/VG/nic to reflect a 2.5% on the root beer flavoring... still tasted like some unholy combination of citrus and nuclear waste even after another steep. Only by halving it again, then adding a little more Bavarian Cream brought it anywhere close to something I recognized as "root beer". Start with 1% on this one, and even that may be strong.
TFA Butterscotch has been a very elusive flavor to perfect... I've tried very low(2%) and very high(15%) flavor percentages, but all I seem to get is a dusty buttery flavor, and it somehow masks the sweetener completely... I've done anywhere from 2 drops per ml on up to 5% sweetener, and I cannot get any sweet joy out of this butterscotch... I've tried it alone and with a bump of Bavarian Cream to see if that smoothed it out. (I'm gonna try Lorann's Butter Rum... I just can't get the TFA to taste good no matter what). Even if I added some Blueberry wild into the mix, the TFA butterscotch seems to cast this dusty powdery dry flavorlessness no matter how much I tweak it.
Hawaiian Tropical Punch and Absinthe were both pretty good at about 10% with a little bump of sweetener... (the punch also really bloomed with the addition of one drop of white vinegar per ml)
Got a sampler of Apple, so I tried an Apple/Wintergreen combo... Apple 8% Wintergreen 2% with a couple drops of sweetener per ml... this was pretty darn good!
I've done some other small batches, but nothing spectacular or even worth mentioning... I do have an old bottle of 24mg really strong menthol, which can cover up a multitude of sins.
One question I have for the rest of y'all, if you've gotten this far: Is it just me, or is the sucralose "Sweetener" just not really that sweet? I've used 1 drop per ml in some juices, and 10 drop per ml in others, and I just have not gotten a real "candy" sweetness with it. I'm headed up to Fort Lauderdale this week, so I'm gonna be right near Wizard's location... I'm going to pick up some more VG, PG, and Nic, along with some flavors. Is EM sweeter than Sucralose? Is there anything else besides EM or Sucralose I could add to a juice to make it sweeter tasting?
Thanks to all who are sharing on this DIY ride!!!
