Just sat down this morning and had a quick look at where all my money's been going for the past few months.
Previously, I had smoking down to ~5 a day. Used to get them all from abroad, so roughly £5 for 20 at most. 40/week so £10/week and £520 in a year.

My current ecig spend:
£30 for first ecig
£25 for a Vision Spinner Battery
£15 for replacement tanks
£40 replacement coils (standard coils, then unicoils)
£100+ - Totally Wicked liquids
£50 - iStick
£25 - Subtank mini
£70 - mixing kit and concentrates
£50 - e-sheesha + cartomisers
£50 - premium liquids

£455+ (and that's just about 6 months, started in October)

I know that most if it was invested in the kit, and now that I have my ideal setup I hopefully won't be making those expensive purchases anymore on tanks and batteries. The DIY kit has enough to keep me going, now it's just buying concentrates that I need for recipes. I would have saved a lot more if I'd got the quality kit early on, but at the time I was new to it and wasn't sure if it's something I'd pursue.

It's probably not even that much in comparison what others spend, but I still feel like I've spent way more money than I should have.
Anyone in the same boat?

I bought two bottles for £6.99 each and vowed never to return.

I will give them money for the fight against the EU if necessary... it's a hard one to weight up. Basically, I won't shop there at all.

it was like this for me when i started up with new stuff again at the end of last year. but ive knocked it down to ~100$ worth of stuff each month for the past 3 months. Mostly just unflavored nicotine juice and flavorings to mix on my own, with the occaissonal inexpensive accessories like drip tips and the like. Once you get the necessities the rest is just to maintain or spend on what you like, most of the stuff other than juice/wire/cotton is unnecessary for me atm, but I like trying new things so the money I do save now still goes to vaping, but that's just me.

for me i DIY my own juice so it is considerably cheaper and I save money in that aspect, the money I save with juice is going towards stocking up on a few mods. My ego twists/vision spinners are basically going into retirement (giving em away or never using em again). Right now I just have a dna30 mod and a dna40 mod. I still want to get 2 or 3 quality mech mods so I have backups in that aspect that should last beyond the lifetime of my vv/vw mods.

You are doing fine. Many go through several upgrades/trys before they find what works for them. Biggest expenditure is usually the flavor chase.

Once you find what works for you the cost usually slows down considerably. Unless you are one that needs to get all the newest gear and try all the juice offerings.

I was lucky. I got my gear and all day vapes discovered in the first 6 to 8 months. Very few purchases since then. Provari and Russian/Kayfun and Ahlusion juices. Starting to diy to lower that area of cost.

+1 for this, there liquid is pretty vile! dont rate it at all! there iStick clones however are pretty good and a really fair price (the missus went and bought one cos it looked like mine lol )

I started with Totally Wicked just because they're local. Their Ice Menthol was a daily vape for a while, and then I went and spend a lot more when I bought their E-Sheesha just because I needed 0% liquids for it.

I really like the Original Bunny and Milk and Honey by CF, but again those were working out very expensive very quickly so pulled the plug on those and bought a DIY kit. Tried mixing the Milk and Honey recipe on here which is nice, but not the same. Still on the hunt for decent recipes for those 2 and then I think I'll finally settle.

It's good to know that I wasn't the only one to go through this.
Think the worst thing about it all is that I still haven't stopped smoking completely so still having for those too!

i think once you get the right settings on your istick and subtank mini , the satisfaction should help ween you off cigarettes, especially if you get the hang of the RDA section of the subtank,

the only reason I spent too much was due to not knowing about the poor quality/life span of the "low cost" vape gear... had I known how good the SVD and RSST was when I started vaping and bought those 2 items, I would have spent alot less cash on stuff that lasts 2-3 weeks....

It's all trial and error $$ until you find your vape.
Vaping hardly costs me anything anymore. The occasional DIY juice supply purchase (vg, nic, flavor) and I'm good for another couple of months.

You'll get past the wasteful spending phase. Everyone goes through that.

In like a lion, out like a lamb. We all start out wanting/NEEDING everything and soon realize when enough is enough. I have severe OCD and have about 100 mods right now and 50-60 tanks/rdas/toppers. I haven't bought/ordered anything in 3-4 months because my OCD shifted

It seems like a lot at the beginning. But once you get a set up that satisfies, and assuming you don't get too sucked in to the hobby aspect of it, the costs do go down.

I spent a bunch the first 6 months. Then at around a year I invested in a couple higher quality mods in addition, as well as some rebuilding supplies. But now I've been at it 3 years and the only thing I've spent money on in a year & a half has been eliquid. The cost has long since balanced out.

Settling into your ADV and preferred set up will cut down costs.
It's the shinyitis, the next great thing on the market that will get you!

I got shafted with my 1st real purchase a VTR for $110. Was only happy for a 2 weeks so I ordered a Smpl and Magma, was happy with that til i Big Drippe. and Nemesis. Still wasnt completely happy so I got a Sig150, thought it was cool but to big so I got an IPV Mini2. That suit me OK, but the 510 is a millimeter off so I got a Sig30 for my subtanks and finally feel happy. Granted I ordered another Smpl and Magma (both black clones) and enough rayon for many lifetimes on sunday. I dont plan on buying anything for a bit cuz I nees a new car and cant afford both. The only thing I really wany is a colored hammond dual batt mech box. After i buy that Im gonna make my own unregulated and a regulated 1 to. I think I can handle making the unregulated on my own but gonna need my dads help for the regulated.

Vaping is my new addiction which i dont really mind compared to my old 1, atleast it wont kill me or send me to the clink.

I've found a healthy cost effective outlet for my OCD tendencies to be folding. Follow the link in any avatar of a team ECF folding@home member for more info. You can dedicate unused computer processing power to the research effort focused on understanding various diseases and developing treatments and cures. Points you earn for doing this can be applied to the Team ECF total which is great PR for the forum in particular as well as the vaping community at large. Who knows, you may want to build a dedicated folding machine and help us really pile on the points. Last time I checked ECF was ranked #62 out of thousands of teams doing this.

Well I'm not so hard to please. I have spent a total of $125 on devices, from starter kits to current mod and RTA. add to that $25-30 week in juice.... $1700 first year, call it $1550 going forward. Seems OK compared to $50 per week /$2500 per year on smokes.

I think I've spent close to a grand in the last month. Still looking to get an iStick 50w, or something comparable, but now I know what I like, so I'm gonna calm it down. My weakness is juices. I've been vaping for a little over a month and have more than 80 bottles. I'm in search of a good popcorn flavor, and then I'm done for awhile.

My spending has "sorta" slowed, and I have a case of shinyitus, but the only thing I've bought this month has been some flavor bases for my DIY supplies. (Hannypoo, I was in the same boat as you - I probably had upwards of 50 some juices at one point which is why I have shifted to DIY. Make as much as I want of what I want when I want for 1/10 the cost of my B&M - which is from where I've bought most of my juices.)

Make as much as I want of what I want when I want for 1/10 the cost of my B&M - which is from where I've bought most of my juices.)

This is a hobby for me, too... and maybe even a future business. I'm starting down the DIY path, so I consider this the knowledge-gathering phase of my plan. Gotta spend money to make money? Haha! At least that's what I'm telling myself.
