got these cheap from fasttech a couple of months ago and they are 1.5 ohm vertical coils for the subtank mini

ive have tried to kill em but they just keep on going and going i run them between 20-30 watts

they are not genuine kanger coils by the looks of packaging but have kanger laser etched on the coils so who knows

when done and the flavor eventualy starts to dropoff after a couple of weeks of chain vaping and 100-200mls of juice later you can pull them apart and rebuild them if ya want

the coils in the second pic at the top listed as occ v2 are what came in the packs shown in the first pic

I have tried, with no luck, to pull apart the OCC V2.

when taking them apart you need to use a tank base to screw the coil into pretty snug with fingers

then using a pair of pliers grip the outer shell verticaly covering the wicking holes and gently but firmly wiggle the outer back and forth while also pulling to remove the part

you can also twist slightly if needed but do not twist before the outer starts to move as you do not want to stress the thread by over tightening and damaging the thread in the base section

once the outer section is removed then unscrew the inner section from base use pliers if needed but be careful not to put plier jaw marks on the inner section as this will make refitting tricky and harder to remove when next needed

the first time is the hardest to remove the outer once done the next and future times are very easy

i have had a couple that were very snug but a little effort and they came apart ok

they are not welded as i have heard mentioned elsewhere just a very tight press fit

when outer is off and inner removed from base just take out the bottom pin and insulator grommet as you would with the older style and then pull the coil and wick from the top and rebuild

hope this helps

but do at your own risk i have pulled lots of these apart with no damage to base section of tank as yet

The coils are fine. I used them for about a month and then got into rebuilding the RBA deck with the Subtank Mini just because it was cheaper.

As for rebuilding the vertical V2 coils, I just pulled the old coil and cotton out the bottom after removing the pin and grommet. I'd push a new one down through the top like a standard horizontal coil, and run my cotton through the coil using the juice holes. Then I'd shear the cotton flush with the coil body. Never needed pliers except to snip my leads. I managed to build a handful of coils that ran about 1.2- 1.5 ohms and then decided the RBA deck was easier to rebuild and I can get it down to 0.5 pretty well.

I don't even bother with using a new stock OCC coil. I just rip them apart and put my own build into it and vape happily, so far of the several I have used with my own builds I've had no leaking or any other issues. I also prefer to use the RBA rather than the heads but sometimes you don't have time to rebuild and having a revamped OCC coil handy is great.
I haven't tackled a rebuilt vertical coil yet but if not I will get use out of the positive insulators if I cook one of my OCC insulators.

Thanks, Keith. This makes a lot of sense. I never thought of screwing in the base! I would break them because i would use pliers to hold the bottom. no more wasted coil heads for me! Thanks!

just nice to know it helped someone out

also if you need to get a better hold of the AFC base section screw that into either a spare mod or an ohm meter as it makes it easier to hold

FASTTECH sell those little threaded atty stands and if you drill a hole through the center of them you can put a screw through and fix it to a small block of wood and you can use that to hold the AFC base while pulling the coils apart and it also makes a nice little atty building stand
