The atty was burning nice and hot, then out of no where complete vapor loss.

Now the damn thing won't even heat up. I hear it barely sizzling, so I figured it was flooded, blew it out real good. Nothing.

So I rinsed it out really good with some water, and blew it out again. Let it dry, still nothing but a sizzle.

Whats going on here? Did the damn thing just die on me, it's a brand new atty o_0

sounds like it could be a battery problem, if you have a passthrough try it on that, and make sure that you arent starving it of juice, because that can kill an atty quickly

That sounds like the problem right there. In my experience, a flooded atty will produce vapor, though minimal, with a lot of gurgling and leakage out the battery connector. If you rinsed and dried, it can take a lot of liquid to get the the atty primed. 6-8 drops and wait a little while for it to soak in nicely.

I think that the quality control on attys is minimal and you can get good ones (and bad ones) as a matter of fate.

Also a very possible reason for this atty's problems. Especially if it's a Joye atty. My newest Joye atty's will flood and leak with only 3 drops. The last batch I had wwould flood if I over dripped, but never leaked. Go figure.

I now use carto's almost exclusively do to issues with Joye atty's.

I've had my 510 for about a year and only had one bad Atty, D.O.A
from China. I have a couple that are looking rough but still work. Once in a while one will get weak and the vapor production drop off. At times it's been my fault for flooding. I try to clean my atty's every now and then. I soak them for about twenty minutes in alcohol, blow them out, let them sit on a paper towel for a hour or so. I then give them a drop of juice to prime, they are good to go. I can't complain about the 510. I've also been using them quite a bit on my power pass thru with vg juice.Like others have said check, your batts and juice, that could be the problem. Good Luck!

I am too new to post a thread so I will try here.

I have noticed some differences between 510s that I have. The batts and the attys.
I have a couple 510 attys that have a white rubberish looking ring on the inside of the male threads, the batts that came have a little dimple in the battery. I also have like a bunch of attys that have a plastic ring and batts that have no dimple.

I the attys look all the same but I get a MUCH better TH and vapor from the attys with white rubber.....

any ideas..

If you hear a sizzle but low vapor it needs to be cleaned.

try soaking it in alcohol for a few hours then boil it for 15 minutes.

blow it out, then dry burn it. you should hear a sizzle. look into it
and dry burn for about 7 seconds then let it cool. do this about
10 times. one of those times you should see the coil turn red...stop when it does that its done.

now drip 2 drops on the bridge and fill your cart.

should work just like new

Boris,

Thanks for your tip. I have done that a few times and it helps. I have a situation where I bought BULK 40 510 attys and am now finding out they possibly aren't as good as the previous ones I used. The ones that dont seem to work as well have a clearish plastic ring on the male part. The good ones have a white rubber ring....I have 2 good ones and 40 bad ones. DAMN. Also on the 40 batts I have they are all flat unlike the dimple in the first ones.

I ordered the day after CNY. I had no idea it was happening there. I think they were backed up and rushed production....

You could try to put some of them up for sale in the classified area. I'm sure you'll get some hits.:)

I do believe that the attys with the white rubber are genuine Joye.
That could explain a few things.

I had the same issue today, so I recleaned my atty, tried something new..basically did a hot water rinse for 30 seconds, dropped it in with a denture cleaner for 15 mins (leftover from when I actually used my retainer, lol), then another hot water rinse before using a blow dryer.

Got some vapor back, but not everything.

Then I used a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol to clean the threads on both the atty and battery.

Got much more vapor back.

Decided to add a tad more liquid to prime it. Then started doing sloooooooooooow hits. The vapor is almost back to normal.

Can't quite explain it, but an over the top cleaning is probably going to make the biggest difference first.

Not sure if this will work for you or not, but so far so good..and getting better..
