I only use Kanthal on the Odysseus.
I get much better coil longevity from the Kanthal than the nichrome.

I don't think it would work well, it would be a very high resistance and the whole wire would heat up, that's jmo, I have not tried it.

You use the kanthal the same as you would nichrome.
NR wire, Kanthal, NR wire.
Setup is the same, except you're just using a different resistance wire.

I think you're misunderstanding the question, the OP is asking if it's ok to use just R wire and no NR wire.
Just using R wire isn't a safe idea as your atomizer will get extremely hot and most likely taste really bad as well. Just wait it out for the NR wire or buy some 30g pure silver wire from a jewelery, craft, or hobby shop.
a temporary solution might be to twist 3 kanthal wires together to make an "NR" wire Lem.
And make a coil at 1ohm (if you use the device at 3,7 volts. I havent done this yet but I think that it will work

Hi sir Imeo, by twisting 3 wires (like when we twist the NR and R wire), it will be treated as a NR wire right sir? So when the 3 wires are twisted together, i'll follow the coil preparation as is?
3 twisted kanthal wires will perform like a R wire. Then you make the coil as you usually make it Lem

its not shorting but the "NR" wire you made is heated too so more heat is produced near the mouthpiece buddy. But I am glad that you made it work while waiting for your real NR wire
