Hello. My first time here, and I have never EVER taken a puff from an E-cig. I have smoked tobacco for 33 years, and I can feel it in my lungs. My boys (9 and 10 years old) HATE seeing me inhale those lung darts. I am ...... off and bitter, because I only found out about e-cigs last night. I am ...... because apparently it is ILLEGAL in Canada. Health Canada is probably getting greased by Big Tobacco. Information overload online last night. I watched You Tube reviews, Googled everything e-cig related, decided I didn't want to go to Couche-Tard (Canadian ver. of 7/11) and buy a Blucig after hearing not so good reviews about said Blucig. Then I almost punched in my Visa on a Greensmoke from the U.S. when I saw that all Greensmoke products coming into Canada are being seized by Canadian Customs. (If you guys south of the border don't know how much corruption is going on in this country, just check out the track record of the current mayors of our 2 largest cities (Toronto and Montreal) on Google. You'll hear allegations of Crack use and Mafia involvement. LOL What a drama up here! And right about now our Prime Minister would be facing impeachment if he was leading your fine country.)
Anyways.....I just contacted a web & Brick and Mortar store whom I found on this forum not too far from me. Apparently Health Canada says it is illegal in Canada but still turn a blind eye. I asked about the V3 Phalanx and they told me it's a (I can't repeat it here). So I like their honesty, and I am going down to the store now and hoping I can start the final "I Quit Smoking" Chapter of my life.
I have tried The patch, Zyban, nicotine inhalers, cold turkey, Allen Carr Easy Way method, gum, etc, etc.
I hope this works.
I don't want to die of lung cancer.
One last rant. Why would Health Canada ban e-cigs, that contain only nicotine and propylene glycol...when real cigarettes contain thousands more harmful chemicals? I can't wrap my head around this.

I'll tell you all what I purchased when I get back from the store with my new ecig.:2cool:

Welcome to ECF Dahlialady! You are well on your way to kicking the stinkies out of your life. And what better reason is there than to hang around long enough to see your kids have kids and get to spoil 'em? I smoked for a loooong time and quit for good this past August. Like you I tried to quit using different methods like patches, gum and Wellbutrin but I always failed to stay tobacco free. But with the aid of e-cigs and the people here I've been able to put the tobacco down and haven't had an urge to light up...even when I'm drinking.

Always follow the money trail. You'll see they have their reasons to keep us smoking, big tobacco and Big Pharma both stand to lose a lot of money if we quit smoking so they have a vested interest in supporting laws (Bribing gov officials) that prevent the availability of e-cigs.

When you hit a rough spot, don't hesitate to increase the nicotine content and post here for a LOT of support. Unlike the gov, we want you to succeed. :2cool:

Vaping is a game changer - big time.
Take a look at it from a detached and cynical viepoint: You work and you smoke. Just perfect. Gubmint takes a considerable part of your disposable income in form of tobacco taxes ( revenue from tobacco tax usually runs several Billions per annum ). Part of your pay goes towards paying into pension funds ( public or private - doesn't matter ) month after month after month. You keep smoking, you keep feeding the tax coffers and the pension fund coffers. Ideal case for them: Shortly before it's payback time - i.e. you're about to draw your pension pay - you kick the bucket. Lung cancer is reputed to be pretty fast - no lengthy chemotherapies, no expensive surgeries or rehab procedures. What it boils down to is that gubmint took the tax manoney and pension fund gets to keep the dough you paid in. We almost forgot the the tobacco companies and the pharma companies - they all partake in the proceedings. What you get in exchange is 6 feet of soil on your chest and maybe a nice headstone...

Pension funds , tax folks, insurance companies - they worked out all the percentages right to the fifth digit behind the decimal point.

But no politician mindful of his/her career can say it outright 'we want you to smoke and we want you to croak' , they'd be run outta town real fast.

Now you come along and have the nerve to eat the cake and keep it - meaning you get your nic fix, you get less sick, you might live longer, you're not putting taxes ito their greedy grubby fingers.... Heresy! Sacrilege! Blasphemy! And what's worse - since so many are doing it - all these numbers, all these forecasts don't fit the facts anymore... There goes the bonus, and that fancy executive jet, and the yacht, and ordering that nice Italian sportscare will have to wait....

Think they're taking that quietly? Very unlikely. But how can a toxic product compete with a less toxic product? It can't. At least not when you're competing fair and square. So you tilt the playing field, something that BT and BP have done for decades. For most gubmints the billions from tobacco taxes are already spent or planned for spending before they're actually in the till. So they're inclined to listen...Not to you, of course, since they don't make any dosh outta you anymore. But to that soft rustling of large denomination bills being rubbed together they'll listen alright and have to feed you all sorts of rubbish about that oh-so-dangerous e-cigarette stuff...
It's dangerous, alright. To their wallets, to their numbers...

F... 'em , keep vapin' :)

Thanks to all for reading my rant, and your helpful replies. @ Steam Turbine....Vaporus is exactly where I was. I purchased the V3 eGO Spinner. Loving it so far. As a menthol smoker, I purchased the menthol juice, tried a few others and also purchased the honey juice...which is very melon-like. DELICIOUS! Very happy with my purchase so far. I can smoke....er....vape indoors without stinking the entire place up. No more going outside in minus 20 degree weather. Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner.

Good to hear that it worked out for you.

Ya, the law here sucks regarding e-cigs (and so many other things in this Godforsaken nanny state), but at least in Toronto there's no difficulty getting access to decent gear and e-liquid, whether online or at a handful of stores. I'm sure Montreal is good too.

Welcome to the forum!

Regards
Glenn

i'm a (proud) Canadian as well, and picked up my e-ciggy in the states on a whim, and because I believed I couldn't get one here, or at least no e-juice with nicotine. turns out, that's not the case at all. despite all the talk of it being illegal, banned, not approved, whatever lingo is being used, I just went with a friend to pick up her new e-ciggy, and they were selling nic e-juice as well. and this is in a small town in bc!
if you can't find a store selling it where you live, there are a couple fantastic Canadian online sites that you can order ciggys and juice from. don't despair!

Loved the rant-my sentiments exactly. So bang on(a fellow Canuk here wanting to stop the analogs as well& ...... at our system as well over the whole e-cigs matter). In reply to your "last rant"- I can add one even more crazy Canadian "ban"- as per one of our bizarre laws you can't buy a certain Land's End women's cardigan(bit you can have everything else they sell shipped) and have it shipped to Canada because -ready for this?- it has faux "shell" buttons!!!! I am so glad that Canada is worried about the buttons on our cardigans:blink:
What a country we live in!

Good for you, you got good juices and a good setup...

i love the fact i can vape away just about anywhere, and my apt doesnt reek of smoke... on a side note, since various cities in Canada are adopting no smoking bylaws like crazy, vaping outside a cafe, on a park bench, etc is the way to go!! i was in a lounge the other week and asked the server if I could vape , she inquired for me and i was allowed!! no standing out in the rain, lol...switching over was the best thing i ever did for myself...
