I'm having an odd problem, not sure if it's the board or my browser but I did not have this problem on the old forum. Every page I select first displays the oldest version of the page that I have seen in the current browser session. Even if there have been updates that I HAVE SEEN or that I HAVE MADE myself, I don't see them when I redisplay the page later. I have to manually refresh each page every time I display the page. I have never seen this behavior before on any website or forum - it's bizarre.

Hmmn, I can't seem to replicate this on my browser.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

There is a limit whereby a given user can only add two tags to a thread. Can you please increase this?

UPDT: Okay it appears to be 5 tags if you are the thread starter, 2 tags otherwise. This doesn't change my request, just thought I should mention it. ;)

Changed to 10 for the thread starter and 5 for replys. What do you think?

Very strange. I will sort it.........

FYI
For now I'm glad that you don't have a limit on the time one is able to edit a post.

I accidently came across an old post of mine and it looked horrendous when it was transposed to the new software.

The size of fonts were distorted and sometimes codes were included in the post which made it look bizarre also.

I spent sometime early this morning correcting these old posts of mine that I couldn't tolerate leaving them as they were.

Thanks

I noticed the same thing about fonts (as Nerdy) and had to fix some of my old posts. The conversion made some of them really large. The misplaced Loong Totem ad posts are gargantuan. I hope any remaining are deleted as had been requested earlier.

Nerdy, your concern about the Tag Cloud.... in my browser the Tag Cloud is 2 pages down on the site, fully below the main section of the page and the forum listing. It's barely larger than the few lines of Buying & Selling. Could this be a browser or display issue on your machine?

Wondering if you will transfer the rest of the PMs over.

Of the PMs that did transfer for me - this is hard to explain.... The last PM I had sent is now in my own inbox, 2 copies of it. It shouldn't be in my inbox and it shouldn't be duplicated.
Hi Smokey. Don't want to rush all the work you're doing. Am checking on this one only because I've been avoiding using PMs so that mine can be reloaded. I took a bit more time to examine my Inbox. It contains 4 messages - the two duplicate Sent messages that I first mentioned above, and two other Sent messages. I have no valid Inbox messages from the conversion.

Jamie did you ever see that TV show where mother-in-laws argue how they think their children’s new home should be designed?

Reminds me of that show.

Guess it’s not either of our houses. We are left only to express our opinions – lol
Hey, were you arguing with me?! 8-o

hehehe :p

Oh, I really like tag clouds!
What I may be able to do is add the minimize function that the other forum areas have. I will look into it........

I think the cloud tags look nice now.
And all the smilies now show up on the PM page.
And lots' things coming along nicely - thanks for all your work.

Hey, Mr.Darcy has it gotten any better for you?

Hi Jamie, the tag cloud is not advanced enough for it to be user customisable, i'm afraid. Do you think 40 is too few?
Hmmm. It's a problem I think. For instance, if I use "maintenance" as a tag, and a few days later I can't recall what I used so I tag another thread with "cleaning", and a week later tag another thread with "clean", you see where it leads? None of them get on the board, they just hang out there in isolation. Multiply that by all the users whom you would like to see creating tags.... I don't know how one can build and maintain a base of consistent tags if folks can't see them all.

There is the option of having Search capabilities robust enough, easy enough to use, that tags would be completely redundant. I had real problems on the old board - most of my searches resulted in the error, "this word is too popular", or whatever the phrase was.

Sorry I didn't get back earlier, Jamie..

I see the problem, unfortunately I don't think there is a way of altering the search system within vBulletin.

I may be wrong and I will keep searching for a solution.

I read somewhere that the tag system may be altered so that synonyms can be added and will automatically merge to the one that is selected.

so with your example: maintenance, cleaning and clean could all be merged to "maintenance". It would just require a mod to have a look at the tag list from time to time and make up categories.

Until then, shall I set the number of tags to a higher number? What would you suggest?
