Pherse also mentioned this to me at the last vape meet, and I did give it a try. It works well (althought I still can't get into those tanks, they just don't work right for me).
Your basically cutting one of the coils out as IT_guy said, so instead of having 2x 3ohm coils you only have 1x 3ohm coil.
Because they are wired in Parallel you can do this (see above image). If they were in Series this wouldn't be possible. As long as you clip the wire and they are not touching, nothing wrong will happen. If they happen to touch, it will just reactivate the 2nd coil. No harm, no foul.
Not quite sure what would happen if that wire were to touch the side wall of the carto though.....
I haven't ripped one apart and traced the wiring, so does that mean that the wire poking up the center tube on a dual coil is only the top coil's wire? I guess it must be given that it's wired in parallel. That might be an interesting experiment to try one on my Silver Bullet stacked though.

That certainly explains it. Each coil completes its own circuit so it's not a full short when you clip the top wire.
Yuppers, this is why if they were wired in Series it would not work as well (as the amps would be the same across both coils, but the voltage would be half at each coil).
This also explains why you are able to push 6v through the DC (which would mean each coil is getting the 6v) because the voltage is distributed evenly across both coils.
True, but despite the resistance being havled you're still only getting the wattage as it would be from each coil, thus the relatively cool vape on low voltage devices even at LR, and why you can push the crap out of duals. Got a 1.5 blasting at the high setting on my EVO right now and it's wonderful as always.

Agreed about the cool vape. This is why I've always said use them on a true 5v mod that has the amp limit. It is after all two 3 ohm coils in there. Gotta treat those coils right

Hey Mopar just got my order and loving the ss lavatube (nice and heavy andeverything fits nice and tight compared to the older ones) and the evo. Just wondering if this evo that have has the new switch or if they are still en route. it was just shipped last week. Thanks
I opened mine about 2 min ago and yes. the SS is heavy and awesome! That cap on the bottom just rolls in like buttah! Buttons are nice and stiff and work on every press. I'm enjoying it so far! Time to try it out!
It must be SS LT day. I got mine today too, haven't tried it yet, still busy playing with my red mini. I really love the size of it but they sure do need to move the button up some how, it's about mid way on the tube. It would be so nice if it could be above the display. Regardless I love the color.
I don't need one or three either, but if I could get some I would. That red one would look great on my red mini LT

Those of you that got your SS LT does it seem like it will be pretty durable?
without the battery in, it is weighs as much as the black one with the batt in, so it sure feels durable.
