Hanging out in CA for now
A little belated but thanks technovapir for starting this thread. It was a great idea. I like sharing my travels but didn't like hijacking either and didn't really want to start a non-vape related thread. We headed back on the road the end of May and spent 2 weeks at Yosemite & then 2 weeks at Lake Berryessa (North of Sacramento). Needless to say I had no internet (except the occasional trip to the Lodge) or cell service but it was kind of nice not to be bothered by technology when nature was all around me. We're at an RV park in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains right now and will be heading for the Oregon Coast next week. Life is definitely great....

Hope everyone's been well and that TT has been staying out of the dog house!

Elpha, you had me seriously rolling on the floor laughing like crazy with THAT one!!

Hey gang, there's Norrie!!! Hiya Norrie!!! Norrie, you and I are of a like mind about people hijacking Threads. I don't know why they do that and I do all I can to discourage it. Terrible practice!

We're hoping to be able to load up our travel trailer right after the 4th of July and take off for points north where its cooler. We've considered Oregon as a final destination. We finally got everybody down this way healthy to where we can take off and relax.

Glad to hear y'all are having a good time.

Oh, and would you be interested in buying some copper wire at a good price?

TT

If you get up towards Oregon/Washington let me know. That's where we're headed and maybe we can meet up for a pow wow and vape a little Applewood. We'll be on the Oregon coast for July 4th and then up to Washington for about a month, then back to Oregon for another month or so....We don't have to be back in Texas until the end of October and I definitely don't want any of the 105+ temps they've been getting in North Texas so be sure and leave that heat there when you leave....

Copper wire, now let me think...what in the world would I do with copper wire. I guess I could make a pair of earrings but I think my ears would turn a funky shade of green and that just might clash with my red hair...LOL

Norry and TT...If you're heading up the Oregon coast be double dog sure to stop at the Tillamook cheese factory. There's nothing better than a giant scoop of their fresh chocolate ice cream. And you'll need a bag of cheese curds for the road. Yummoooo.
Just be sure to hold your breath when walking from your car to the factory, because the smell of cow dung is a bit overpowering in those parts.
There's also a giant hangar/airplane museum along that stretch of road that is the largest wooden structure in the US. It's worth a look too. It's where they built dirigibles in WW2. I love travelling down the coast, but it's kind of scary over on Hwy 101, since lots of people have reported getting into car wrecks with deers!

Luv the Tillamook Cheese Factory....I grew up in McMinnville & we spent alot of time on the Oregon coast....I hear ya about the cow smells....Nothing worse than pulling into a beautiful RV park for the night, everything is perfect & then just when we're sitting outside enjoying the sights the wind changes & then Katy-bar-the-door. It's happened to us a couple of times. It never fails that the stockyards are on the opposite end of town and we don't see them until we're headed out the next morning...LOL

I finished grading at 4:45 am. My husband helped me and stayed up as long as I did! We were drinking espresso. :)

I'm so happy you survived & finished! Sounds your husband is a real keeper. I have a platter of virtual cupcakes here for you...Enjoy!

TT, are y'all having fires over there? I saw on the net something about fires around Lufkin and Nacogdoches. (spell check says that neither of those names are spelled right! hmph!!! 0

LOL, actually chimney, you spelled BOTH of them right. So much for spell check!

Yeah, we have one real bad fire south of us that has burned over 18,000 acres and is about 40% contained. On top of that there are about half a dozen smaller fires and the bad thing about that is that its tying up local fire departments keeping them from helping with the big fire.

Of course, these are nothing compared to the fires in Arizona and New Mexico.

But its so dry here ... you wouldn't believe its East Texas. Our ponds are about all dried up and I had to sell all my cattle because with the drought no grass is growing. Feed is far too expensive to buy so I had to back out of all of it. No other choice.

There's some good news on the horizon though. They are calling for a 50% chance of rain tomorrow (Tuesday) starting early in the morning and a good chance of more rain on Wednesday.

That man upstairs takes care of us if we give him a chance.

Thank you! We'll eat one right now. :) Hubby is a good guy. He's very tired (worse than me) since he had to go to work. Perhaps I'll let him eat two cupcakes!
