Official update post for PIF

Like I tried to say before, the only real issue I have at the moment, is the PIF thread. Removing, changing or altering it would be like having the fat guy guard the cookies, just a bad idea.

Now onto Blaze, I am not against him being the mod. After reading HIS post about the time he spends at work and having a newborn etc etc, I just feel that he may not be the best candidate. We will probably never find another jules, someone who spends most of their waking hours monitoring and devoting so much of their time trying to keep this place running smoothly. Lets face it, she was 1 in a million. The next mod, be it blaze or anyone else, will have huge shoes to fill. I dont think there is one person on this entire subforum, that we could 100% agree would be perfect for the job. But as a temp position, how did the 2 co-mods that were already in place not become the temp mod until this was all figured out? isnt that part of the duty of co-mod?

So, why do we have just one mod? how come we cant have a panel of mods, all equal, not 1 in charge but 3-4 equal people, who run things? Disagreements and other problems can be settled by the other equal mods. This way, if down the road, someone has to step down for whatever reason, the PIF continues and we still have some form of control and posts and threads like this one will not be needed. As it stands at the moment, with jules stepping down, the entire subforum has pretty much come to a stand still. It seems to me that solving the who is running things issue is important, but so is trying to make sure it never happens again.

Quick answer to that is GD left the group, and Clumsy couldn't do it because of her schedule.

We don't have only one mod, we have 2 right now, and a 3rd soon. And more if that's what it takes :)

ok, that clears that up

who are they? are they equal or does 1 of them still have co-mod status?

I haven't said anything in this thread because I was so upset about Jules leaving, and then neph and gooddog, it is just insanity and I am still really upset.

What I DO want to say is that anyone who has run forums before, as I have, there doesn't HAVE to be this stigma with the mod that they are the "everything" of the board. Truly, this forum is about the MEMBERS, not the mods. Jules is AMAZING, and she gave to others like crazy and tried to go out of her way to do things for the forum to make sure everyone was happy and getting things if they needed them. Really, though, all we need a mod for is to sticky things, un-sticky things, monitor and delete posts that are inappropriate, etc. The mods are not supposed to be a highly loved and adored person, just a regular member that can also take care of the mechanics of the place. A poll (or really popularity contest) is not going to get us to where we need to be. Someone who knows how to work the forums is what we need, the rest will be done by all the amazing members here...
Just my input, a lot more is being made of this than it has to!

Starting to sound like voices of reason coming out in the light of day after a real bummer of a night.

We don't need a king.....or a queen for that matter. We are all supposed to be adults here.

I'm with Mutt and Toni.....

I'm for one "mechanic" with the operational responsibility......I would suggest this person specifically NOT be allowed to make any changes to anything about group structure....only the ability to facilitate the means for the MEMBERS to voice their opinions on any proposals and then implement what the MEMBERS decide collectively.

In addition, a panel of a few, who's responsibilities would be more varied including responding to individual concerns, etc.

Just an idea

I will agree with that, for the most part. Thats why i was putting the question out there about people personal schedules. The task of running the subforum is a long, boring one. Thats why the panel idea appeals to me...more than 1 EQUAL people each doing their part to keep things running smooth. I say equal, because if its like any other forum I have been on, the MOD has last and final say and the co-mods usually have very limited power, meaning that the mod can over rule, or change anything a co-mod says or does. An equal panel will eliminate this. And I AM NOT VOLUNTEERING FOR A PANEL POSITION, just stating what i would like to see happen.

Sure... I say make a thread and whomever wants mod status to keep this place alive, post in there saying so.

Then we get a bunch of names and we all vote on who we want in there via a poll. Ofcourse current mods stay as-is

mod 1 = PIF
mod 2 = Co-op's
mod 3 = whatever
ect, ect

Heres my theory...

The problem was takin to the god mods of ecf, they said we can sell .... if we want to after we get it... Our 3 friends didnt like that answer and left.

Off topic... WTF is this free sample from Vapornine? worlds best e-liquid... "........"

Where ever
I vote that everyone just calm down and go about business as usual until the dust settles.NO ONE knows what it is going on yet. All the sudden everyone wants to change everything and it''s only been a day. I see no problem with Blaze at least taking charge for now. I don't think that it was a "who posted first" got to mod type of thing. Jules ok'ed him. Blaze does have his hands full IRL but I'm sure he can handle it until it all gets worked out. Just my opinion.

We are all wound up, so to speak. Blaze, thanks for keeping a cool head. I was also going to suggest that we not make any changes right now. A) we don't even know if any changes need to be made and, B) are we even a "group", per se. There so many that benefit and so few that feel a need to speak out. What if all of the relevant banners aren't being carried.

I contend that we are not an entity with a common agenda, we are a bunch of people interacting as we feel moved to on our whims and desires. I have no need to be led anywhere here, mainly because I don't know where I am going and am not even on a path. I do need someone to make sure that sand doesn't get kicked in my face to often or too hard. Someone to make sure that if I am in a discussion about something, someone else doesn't start trying to talk about something totally different. In short, moderators, not leaders. Blaze may be getting a taste of being boxed into leadership when he just wants to moderate our activities so that we have an enjoyable and relatively fair experience.

Toni pointed out something that is important about what a mod is and isn't. Sometimes it is good to have a mod that is in the background. That way, they can do their mod thing without having to wrestle with their feelings. If I look at the ECF mods, for example, I only know the names of one or two. The only time I saw one of them make a personal statement, a bunch of people jumped all over them.

Makes me wonder if the stress of being a mod AND being an integral member of the group contributed to the present state of affairs. For my part, the one way to take the joy out of an activity has been to take on a position of authority...

Lastly, a management tip I learned long ago: give the tough jobs to someone that is really busy because they are usually really good at getting thing done quickly and efficiently.

Off to have some fun at PIF, Ikenvape and Ms T's...

Exactly. We need someone who has the best interest of PIF at heart, but not someone who is fully attached.

I think it's time to pick up the pieces and get back to having some pif fun!! I think everyone has had time to calm down. I think the majority have made it clear we do not want to turn this into a swap that's just silly. This group has become very meaningful. What happened here with Mick and his son was beautiful. What we did for Christopher was awesome . These things are what makes pif mean so much to so many and provokes powerful emotions. Lets get back to it.
Is it possible we can get Gooddog back here?

I agree! And I do hope that GoodDog will come back, I'm quite sad that she left :(
