i mean, yeah.. i always planned to get a gold procyon, as i really wanted just one pen style mod, and a gold one at that.. I was hoping to get it this year. But forget that, my heart goes out to them.. this is another small business destroyed by needless regulations.. I find it very sad.. so that's it then, there is no other USA made mod anywhere now is there?

There's a guy in the next town over from me that's been making some beautiful wood boxes for awhile now. I suspect that there may be more.
Cottage industry can thrive in a prohibitive marketplace. The will of the people will not be subverted by ludicrous governmental mandates...

Never had one, never even wanted one, but this is really sad news. The nanny state has just ruined a bunch more lives. My heart goes out to the folks loosing thier livelihood & the consumers loosing an excelent product............sad.......

Interestingly, the one store in OZ that is loaded with provari stock ready to ship, is the one about 40 min drive from me.. At premium prices of course.. They even have a gold P3 and a gold procyon, as well as the blue with carbon trim on the radius, which is very sexy. Anyway, I digress.. the point i was going to make was, i wonder how stores that have invested in them so heavily will react? Obviously they will all be as surprised as us.. In a month, not even the fimrware will be available for download anymore.. The warranty is basically now zero.. so what are all these stores here, the US, UK, etc, going to do with all this stock? They will have to offer some sort of warranty of their own, for example. I mean they invested in a brand they thought would stick around and a brand that was renowned for quality. I guess that's the one good thing about the quality control at provape, at least if someone still buys one of the remaining stock, they will likely get something that will work properly.

But who would pay $300 AUD now (for example) for a mod that has not only been discontinued, but the parent company has ceased to operate? And people DID pay the money here for them, cause there were always plenty of colour combos out of stock over the years. I think you'd have to be kind of mad to drop that sort of coin on one now.

Lastly, I kind of don't get it. I need a brushing up on the FDA challenges. All this time I thought the regulations were about nicotine and juice. Obviously it's about devices as well. Any way to give me a very brief rundown on why you think provape were so affected by this? Also i have seen the date August 2018 said here a couple of times, and I am still not sure what is happening then, nor does a google search shed light on that........

The FDA regs apply to anything and everything vape related. Manufacturers have to submit an application to the FDA for each of their products. The application fees are very expensive and the process can take years iirc. Check out the legislation part of the forum. There is a lot of info in there.

I doubt it's only because of the FDA regs and lawsuits. Provape absolutely refused to evolv with the vape industry. People aren't going to pay $200 for a mod when they can get one with more power and features for a quarter of that price. They turned themselves into the Nokia of vaping and became irrelevant.

In the end, I don't think it mattered. Even companies that are producing cheap featured mods will probably die
Disheartening and really quite annoying that this kind of thing has happened.

I was quite surprised to see this but maybe not entirely shocked after the recent mention of the state of the site.

I don't think any of the Chinese manufacturers will die because of US rules, although they may take a serious hit if regulations remain as written. They may take a hit should import duties rise. But they're already adapting and releasing hardware conforming to the EU specs, so they clearly are remaining in the market, which is still significant.

Provape was caught in the perfect storm. The decline in low power mtl users, premium pricing, and threats from regulation which were unavoidable as a US manufacturer (unlike all the overseas builders). It's sad to see them go, but their market share of "high end vape gear" was declining before the deeming regulations were released, and they were slow responding to market shifts.
