I get so frustrated with people and trying to keep them informed.. I am Sick of hearing , "Wow thats a lot of Smoke" Or Go take your Smoke break" and calling it smoking flat out! I get sick of repeating my self ... Finally my Mother Inlaw has gotten the language down.. vape shop not smoke shop and vapor not smoke, I wish others would finally get it! Anyone else having this issue??

Ha! I posted a little gem about my MIL last year. She used to constantly say "well, that looks like smoke, so it must be smoke!" no matter how many times I corrected her. One day she was eating a Baby Ruth and I told her "well, that looks a dog turd, so...". She hasn't called it smoke since then.

Who is telling you this other than your MIL? I've seen lots of similar threads and I haven't bothered to post to ask this but I figure why not. Am I the only one that isn't just randomly vaping around strangers or even people I know (other than my wife)? I vape when I'm by myself in my truck. I vape in the house when the kids go to bed. I vape outside on the weekends when the kids are around (don't really want them seeing me do it and asking questions). I basically vape like I smoked.

Yup, just you. They called that closet smoking.

I feel very lucky around here people don't even look a second time, saw some guy a while back pounding clouds walkin around Sam's club and I kept waiting for someone to say something, never happened.

Chromag9, I don't vape in public or around strangers. I just do it at home, at work where nobody comes into my office, and in the car with my wife. No one has asked me about it and I haven't encountered anyone with an ill-informed opinion about vaping. I'm sure a lot of the people I come into contact with every day don't even know I do it. I must be lucky, since I've also read numerous threads and comments about others like the OP who keep running into a wall of ignorance at every turn.

I'm a closet vaper at work. I literally vape in a closet. Policy and a lack of distinction between vaping and tobacco use require it. But no discretion is neede for those that consume nicotine using other non tobacco products within that same facility. Sorry for that little rant...Anyhoo, the only person that insists on calling my vapor smoke is my daughter. She lives for drama.

The people in my life that care about me are happy to see me puffing on a battery.

You have it easy. Due to policy at my workplace I have to actually drive offsite to vape. I'm pretty sure there are other people that vape there, though. When it was cold and rainy this winter it sure smelled like ejuice vanilla vapor in the bathroom.

Technically I'm supposed to go off site with the smokers. The closet is more convenient. And, quite frankly, I don't care to breathe actual smoke anymore.

I guess something I don't quite grasp is if one only vapes where smoking is allowed, does it really matter if it is referred to by others as smoking?

I have been vaping for just over 9 months now. I vape anywhere I want in and around my home (with my wife's blessing), I vape anywhere I want when outside in public (but haven't been to any sporting events, amusement park, or the like), and I vape inside public places when given permission or done a stealth vape in a bathroom or empty aisle in Wally or Menards and the like. I have yet to have even one single person so much as acknowledge my vaping, except while at a kiosk in a mall that allowed it and then it was just people taking a wide berth when passing by.

I feel like I should change my screen name to The Lone Vaper.

I love your posts. I vape where ever the heck I want to vape. My husband had a long discussion and because I am an avid {other stuff} head when it comes to research. I have him not telling me I am still smoking. I actually have him wanting to try vaping. But as for your problem I wouldn't let it rent that much space. People will say or call it what they will have their Ill-informed opinions but that's ok. I don't let it bother me.

Well with all the talk on how some people want to label it with smoking and some anti smokers out there that say its worse, I think we should be mind full and not use the smoke talk cause that kinda sets us up in the smoking category ... I always use Vape and vapor or clouds. My Doc was the one who suggested I switch to vaping due to health issues with smoking and getting older. she was very up on the info on vaping and told me it has better benefits than the patch. she has had seen to many people have stokes with patches and over loading on the Nic with gum. as far as the stop smoking meds they can be bad for some one with certain health issues. She does nag me that as soon as I get down to 0 nic I need to pic a quitting date.( ummm ya maybe lol)

"Smoke" is as accurate as "vapor", i.e. not at all. It's an aerosol, not vapor, unless you use a leaf vaporizer. Calling it vaping is just ignorant.
That's interesting, because in one of your previous posts, you refer to it as vaping. Am I misunderstanding something here?
