Ohhhhh, this can't be good...

Hi, Vapers --

I'm looking to get away from analog smoking because, uh, well, it's gonna kill me if I keep it up. But my brain loves that nicotine hit. I made the terrible mistake of googling about vaping for most of last night. I had no idea that the scene was so developed and complex and fascinating.

I've spent decades obsessing about and acquiring music-making gear (this is commonly known as GAS -- Gear Acquisition Syndrome -- in that community, and I've got it bad. Is that what it's called here?)

About dawn, I ordered a bunch of stuff from V4L and GP for starters.

I can see that I'm gonna have a whole new field of obsession to immerse in, and end up knowing way more about than is probably good for me.

I look forward to hanging out with you all.

...Maybe now I won't have to buy another guitar this month....

So, you guys have G.A.S.? :p Welcome to a whole new level of things to obsess over. Mine started gearing up by looking in the classies at all the gear that is being bought/sold. Fascinating to me how much is here and how advanced the equipment can be. Re: Juice? It's like going to a supermarket. There is more out there that you'll ever get to try and DIY with infinate options.

Have fun and Welcome to the ECF!

Thanks, guys, this looks like a fun place to hang!

Psych -- Yeah -- My daughter just laughs at me every time I say "Well, I think I've finally got everything I need now", when I talk about actually turning away from some killer deal on music gear. I do mean it at the time, every time...

I completely understand. My fiance gives me a budget each year on music gear. I usually gobble it all up within a month.

Electronic Music production is such a dynamic field, the gear changes every month.

I could EASILY spend $100K and still not have everything I want when it comes to production and live performance.

LOL I thought this was supposed to save you money......

 I thought that too when I first started.

You can - I, personally, am just starting to get a grip and be more selective on spending. Went through a tear in my first months finding what gear/juice/cartos work for me. Others I've met here are much more cautious and really make limited purchases and save a lot of $$. I've also heard that DIY juices can save you a lot.

I'm all for fancy new mods but you gotta think about it this way.

A mod is nothing but a battery holder.

It can be a fixed voltage, multiple voltage, or variable voltage.

Apart from that distinction it's really apples and apples. They all have a battery and a connector.

Cartos/Tanks/Atomizers are all cheap. Buy a couple of each that you are interested in until you find something you enjoy.

There's really no sense in having more than one bottom feeder box mod, more than one VV tube mod, and more than one fixed voltage tube mod.

If you want to collect than more power to you. If you are wanting to kick a nasty, deadly habit you can do so relatively cheaply and save money doing so.

The difference between music gear and PV stuff is that each piece of musical gear will dramatically change the scope of what you can do musically.

Each PV you get you are still basically doing the same thing, vaporizing liquid to get nicotine into your bloodstream.

Stormie -- Not from what I can tell by lurking here for the past day.... ...EDIT: -- Oops, this thread is moving too fast. I was referring to your initial post.

Psych and TwoHanded --I think vaping may be complex and detailed enough to feed the obsessive part of the brain. And it looks like the tech and variety are moving fast enough that you can't reach a stopping point and just settle into an established routine with a stable rig. Unless you're pretty stern with yourself about it.

I'm also an IT guy with thirty years of computer obsession behind me, and it looks like vaping might feed that part too. Lots of complex decisions and making different bits from various generations fit together.

Incidentally -- This fracking Bf is killing me -- Between the vaping deals and the guitar-related deals tracked at Harmony Central and the music software and hardware deals tracked at KVR, I'm getting a little frazzled. In a good way. Sort of. :)

I actually registered here today because I wanted to congratulate V4L for having such a great customer base and BF offer that they triggered a DDOS attack on themselves.
