OHM and what voltage?

Ok i have been searching the forum but have not yet found the answer to my questions, i know its on here some where but can't seem to find it. So here goes right now i am using a ego battery with a mini nova tank, i have two VV battery on the way. So what voltage do you use for the different ohm coils. I don't what to fry a coil by the way of lets see what happens if i use a 1.8 ohm coil and crank the voltage up to 6 and pop the goes my coil . So i guess i looking for the safe range of voltage for the different ohm coils.

A good starting trick is 1.5v over rated ohms then adjust up/down to taste.
i.e. 1.8ohm coil > Start at 3.3v - 2.5ohms > Start at 4v
Adjust to taste and nothing should pop.
