Ohm rating changing on coils after time?

I am just curious here. I received my MVP2 and iclear30 a week ago today. Up until today it has always read at 2ohm on my MVP. I just went to check the battery level and noticed that now it's reading 2.1ohm. Is this normal after a week's worth of use? Also I noticed that sometimes the MVP will read the same coil slightly different. Like one time using the device it may read 1.8, then I'll check it again and it may read 1.9. This doesn't happen often but just once in a while. Is this normal behavior for the MVP? Thanks guys!

This is a pretty common occurrence. Mine do it from time to time as well.

I use ProTank 2's on mine and what seems to happen is if I tighten the base of the tank on a little too tight it kicks up the resistance anywhere between .1 and .3ohms. Not sure if this is happens with the iClear 30's, I tried the one with my MVP kit once and set it aside.

I'm not positive (others, feel free to correct me), but I believe the general wear and tear as well as liquid buildup on the coils can add to the resistance as well.

Either way, the problem most likely doesn't lie in your MVP.

Thanks for the reply, that's kind of what I was thinking! I just did a good cleaning and dry burn on the iclear30 for the second time today and after that is when I noticed the change in ohms. No big deal was just curious is all!

I've seen resistance go up on coils after some time, and assume it's due to buildup. Many times it has dropped back down after dry burning.

The readouts are rounding to one decimal place, and I believe they typically round up. A slight (.01) variation in coil resistance could cause this, as 1.84 may register as 1.8, while 1.85 may register as 1.9.

Just pumping power through the coil will raise the resistance over time. Not sure it has anything to do with juice. Your batteries behave the same way. They all show up with a certain amount of ir. charging and discharging raises the internal resistance of the battery. That's why you notice the performance from a year old battery compared to a new one. The new one has less cycles and a lower ir.

So my experience has been that changes of .1 or .2 seem to be pretty normal over time as the coil gets gunked up. my 2.2 may stay at 2.2 for a week then go to 2.3 or even 2.4, but I have never seen it go more than .2 (before I cleaned/changed it anyway). I also get roughly +/- .1 on my VTR, VV3s, and MVP ... It may be the electronics in the ohm meter used by Innokin that account for this slight fluctuation. I don't normally get fluctuation from my eVic other than the same .1-.2 noticed when the coil starts to wear.
