the Provari, as long as you don't sub ohm, it has a cut-off that will register low ohm coils as a short. Ohm meters designed for atties are handy and very convenient. a multimeter can also be used for testing batteries, voltage drop and diagnostic work.

Thanks everyone. I try not to remove my Reomizer much as it is in a perfect position for me (extra orings). I ordered a multimeter so I could check batteries also.
Newbie to the multimeter question: any suggestions for where I connect the leads?

Appreciate it, wise multimeter ones.

Assuming RM2 on Reo, multimeter set ohms, you can connect at the posts of the RM2 to read ohms of your coil, you can connect at positive and negative battery contacts (with battery removed) to check for shorts anywhere in the system.

multimeter set to dc volts to check battery, leads on top and bottom of battery. With battery installed and leads on RM2 posts, fire the reo to read true volts to the coil. the difference between this reading and the straight battery reading is your voltage drop.

Excellent Mr. filthy! Those are the exact, clear directions I was looking for. Thank you much.

He may be Filthy, but he's also quite Smart.

For ohms, which lead goes where doesn't matter.

For voltage, connecting them the wrong way around simply gives you a negative reading. Take the absolute value (remove the negative sign and call it positive instead).

When it arrives, set it to ohms and touch the leads together (this does no damage). The reading is your correction, subtract it from any ohm reading you do. Some meters may allow you to zero out the meter when doing this so you don't have to remember the number. Resistances of 0.1 to 0.4 or so are all well in normal range for a correction (mine happens to be 0.3).

Ive been delaying mine in hopes buying a cheap vv with the reading - not sure if that is dumb or smart but hey guys can you help me find that thread where it lists the gauages and number of wraps and then it showed the ohms i believe and diameter of wraps. Best i got at the moment and google i can search good i am terrible with searching on this site

Something like that? There's also a spreadsheet: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...o-coils-ohms-description-15.html#post11417089

I use the spreadsheet as it's invaluable.

Thanks so much !!!! My reo vv is "sick" and needs to be sent back so as relative newbie rebuilding and o ohm reader right now this will help out greatly - thx to creator n contributors to that- and a big thanks for morpheuspa !

P.s. - the first link is weird - i get some uk puresmoker thread
Second link is perfect n exactly what i need - gracias

Maybe my computer acting up on first link - weird -

Naw, I probably messed it up. It's almost 3 AM here and I'm having a bout of insomnia. I'm glad the spreadsheet could help, though!

the regulated mod can work for testing coils only, but they have a cut-off and will show coils lower that what they can fire as shorted even though they are fine. So as long as the coils you like are above the cut-off they will work.

You can target google or bing to only search a specific site. Example: "Rm2 tutorial site:www.e-cigarette-forum.com"

You can check your build on the Provari, but it might get the connection juicy if the RM is not totally clean.

Alternatively you can grab one of these Ohm meters

Or you can grab something like this multimeter which you can also use to check your battery levels.

I went to that site you posted and I intend to buy that type that's shown but would I need an adaptor to test out EVOD type atomisers? Someone told me that the EVOD atomizers doesn't sit correctly in that type of tester.

Yep--- i gotcha filthy - very good point -

Ive been battling with what im going to do whether buy an ohms meter or the mvp to spit out the ohms for me. they read the ohms even if they obviously wont fire it though right? . I cldnt pass it up at 35 bucks shipped and tax incl. i shld have been a professional and got a ohm reader with a voltmeter as well but i kept delaying this stupid decision so i just finally went with the mvp tonight- the back up battery pack on the device pushed me over the edge- .

No .... on the google thing : now that is neat.
