I have a couple rebuilt PT2/mini heads that register 1.4ohms, sometimes landing on 1.5 but usually 1.4. I mainly use them on my MVP2 which is great but I have a couple little kGo batteries that are convenient for carrying around with me and being stealthy. They say in the manual to not use anything lower than 1.5ohms or it will void the warranty. I don't care about the warranty but how dangerous do you think it would be to run a 1.4ohm microcoil on that device?

On another note the weirdest thing today...built a new coil, honestly the most beautiful, even and well wrapped coil to date. It's ohms are all over the place, which is strange because nothing is touching metal. Ends are clipped out of sight and feel. It's sitting well in the base and not touching chimney. With or without chimney it is all over the place x.x no question on that, just weird!

edit - even weirder, that coil now seems fine

Fresh off the charger you will be pulling 12.6 watts and 3 amps using 1.4 ohm coil. With a 1.5 ohm coil the numbers are 11.76W and 2.8A. I'll leave it up to your google-fu to find what the max out current (amps) is for your eGo. Bookmark this, you'll need it: Steam Engine | free vaping calculators

The wandering ohm's indicate you have a loose connection.

Ohms all over the place is usually an indication to take a closer look at where the legs were cut at...one is still protruding a bit...this is my experience on the Kanger coils for the PTs at least...

I'm curious about this too. My nautilus coil rebuilds are coming in even lower than yours - 1.2 - 1.3ohms - I haven't gotten one to 1.5 yet even doing an extra wire wrap. How hard is it to rebuild that PT mini? My brother uses those with various ego VV batteries, I told him I'd do rebuilds for him. He's been vaping as long as I have (solid- no relapses) and I can't get him into a mod or rebuildables  but it works for him!

I too have rebuilt a nautilus coil that looks perfect - and it reads shorted out. Rebuilt it twice - and same thing. I tossed it - it was however - a dead from the blister pack dead coil. I can't figure out what is wrong with the "dead from package" coils but I can't rebuild them to work. Have you vaped with your wonky ohm coil? Does it burn ok?

I've been considering an MVP2 - where did you get yours? PM me?

I'll be happy when those kayfun clones get here :)

Thanks guys, honestly I don't think it's abnormal for a coil to wander by .1 though. It's only a bad sign if it's wandering drastically. Mine always stay within .1 of the norm and if they don't I re-do them.

Remie - the one that was wonky at first and seems fine now is a backup for later so I'm not using it yet...I'll monitor it over time but I'm nervous about it. I've never used a Nautilus so not sure what it's like in comparison but for me the short you're experiencing is usually due to the very ends of the coil wires touching metal. To fix this, make sure they are clipped SUPER WELL down near the rubber insulator and push pin. This 9 out of 10 times will fix my short. You may think they're not touching metal but unless they're almost invisibly clipped they likely are. I use nail clippers for this and they work really well.

Also Remie I don't think rebuilding the PT coils is hard, but it was difficult to learn and obviously I still don't get a good one every time. The work space is small but once you get the hang of it it doesn't take long to do and it's getting easier with time. I wouldn't call it hard once you get it down...frustrating sometimes but not hard :)

I got my MVP at a local B&M but I'll PM you the best deal I know of online in a minute :)

Thanks for the link Gopher!

^yep that's exactly what I PM'ed her...such a great deal, $30 less than I paid at a local B&M (and by local in the Dacks, that means ~30-35 miles away! so factor in that cursed gas money too...geez)

BTW Remie if you decide to rebuild that PT head I will be so happy to help if you have questions. I'd love to pay the help I've received forward!

Great pictorial explanation of rebuilding a mini PT II --> here -- it's the one I learned from.

Best price I've found is $37.99 at D&A Distribution. Might be less. When I put a $7.25 mini PT2 in the cart the price went down to $6.25. Fast shipping in my experience.

They do have excellent prices, but if you look at their Shipping and Returns page, they only sell to businesses -- with a valid business license.

Yes - kgo is the same as ego - from what I remember kgo is 3.7 volts and is probably higher mah that the standard 650mah ego batteries.

oops - meant to quote sloth :)

yep, it's 3.7 volts and I'm 99.9% sure 1100mah. I've been hitting the 1.4ohm coil on it sparingly...it vapes great, that's for sure :) as a side note, WOW the Virus is way better on a microcoil and cotton (like everything I've tried)

Not anymore. At least not a couple of weeks ago when I ordered 3 MVP2s for $21 including shipping. Well, I went to the strictlyecig.com page then when I ordered I was on the D&A site. Confusing, but I got what I ordered with no problems.
