Oily tasting VG?

I recently got some DIY juice from a family member which I've been happily vaping on, except I get a very faint canola-oil like flavor on the aftertaste. We narrowed it down to the VG, (I'm waiting to hear back on what brand it was) but has anyone else experienced anything similar? I remember I got some pure VG several years back to thicken up 100% PG juice and tasting the VG by itself gave me that same oily taste so I doubt it's contaminated or anything.

I'm just wondering if there are some brands which have less/better flavor compared to others and if other people detect this oily flavor from VG in general or only certain brands of VG?

All VG is not created the same....

Some has what I taste as Olive Oil, it is disgusting.

Some of the ones from drug stores or wally world can be like that. There not exactly put out to make juice with.

Walmart have Humco VG, the same as all drugstores.
I tasted VG from 3 sources and (including Walmart and Essential Depot) and did not find any difference. No specific smell. But in 90%VG and 10% water juices they all had fatty aftertaste for me. Just a little bit.
