From my understanding:

Atomizers: Used with Cartridges or Dripped Straight Into. Contains a heating element and coil that turns liquid into vapor.

Cartridges: Plastic mouthpieces that come loaded with a polyblend filling that contains eliquid that is heated by the atomizer. Disposable. Starter Kits usually come with a blank one attached.

Cartomizer: Combination Atomizer/Cartridge contained in one unit. Can be refilled with larger quantities of ejuice than strictly dripping into the atomizer.

Vets, feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong.

Can someone tell me the differen e between carto's, cartridges and atomizers.

From what I understand you can drip liquid on an atomizer ....

Carto's come pre filled lik the ones fro. Vapor4life and are disposable

Cartridges are empty and .....I have no idea why lol:p

R.

you are right, carto's are pre filled ones and cartirigest are the ones with foam where you drop your ejuice into. atomizers are the one that make the steam. For carto's its all in one disposable cartridge and atomizer

Sounds right, mung. Both cartridges (carts) and cartomizers (cartos) can come either pre-filled or empty. And the pre-filled can also be re-filled. Carts come with a polyester fiber fill, but many people prefer to replace that as wicking material - because of occasional wicking problems or because of scorching if you vape it too dry - with something like blue foam (an aquarium filter material made by Marineland that can be cut to size and used as a replacement; it can wick better without leaks once you get the size/technique right). The carts only purpose is to hold the liquid till you want to use it - and then wick it into the atomizer at a controlled rate. But it is the atomizer that makes the vapor.

A carto on the other hand combines the fiber fill and the atomizer into one unit which typically holds more liquid than most carts. However, some dislike the differences in the taste of eliquids when vaped from a carto, instead of dripped on an atty or from an atty/cart combo.

Empties as opposed to pre-filled give you the chance to use a lot more different flavors or even combinations of flavors that you cannot otherwise buy. And filling and refilling your own is cheaper in the long run than buying prefilled and throwing them away when empty.

Hope that helps!

Carto's and cartridges are basically the same thing. Some are made to be refillable, some aren't. But all can be refilled anyway with a few basic tools and some know how.

You tube vids are a good place to learn.

An atomizer is basically a battery connection, that take battery juice that heats up metal mesh that vaporizes liquid.

In a two piece e-cig the atomizer is contained inside the cartridge itself. This is called a cartomizer. In a three piece the atomizer is separate from the cartridge. This makes the cartridge easier to refill.

Yes.

Yes, they are intended to be disposable. But they can be refilled also. It's just more time consuming.

R.

Some cartridges are empty blanks (ready to fill with your own favorite juice), some come pre-filled with liquid.

I recommend the sticky threads of New Members, especially
- the Newbie videos
- the thread with Library in its title (follow to a multipart guide)

3-piece ecig = battery + atomizer + cartridge (aka cart which is just plastic and stuffing for juice)
2-piece ecig = battery + cartomizer (aka carto which is a screw-on plastic and stuffing for juice w/ built in atomizer)

carts - probably cheaper if you take care of your atomizers, must be topped off often with juice
cartos - You can probably get a week out of each, maybe more with cleaning (doesn't always work well to clean them and if you run them dry and singe the stuffing then you can't fix that). Holds more juice than cart, you can vape longer without messing with it, may be more consistent vapor and may be better flavor

The most popular 3-piece 510 also has a variety of blank cartos available for it and a small selection of filled

The most popular 2 piece KR808D-1 (aka Vapor4Life and Bloogplanet) has a larger number of prefilled cartos and a smaller selection on blanks I think. To be a 3 piece it needs to use another PV's atty and carts (DSE901 atty fits right on, 510 atty would need an adapter)

Regardless of which you get, you are going to be refilling with ejuice

And I recommend manual batteries - I think most people on here do. Less work, more consistent hit, more protected against juice leaks, won't turn on by accident from wind or vibration
