It seems to me from reading this forum, that most vapers that really like it, vap way more than they smoke. Some of the threads sound like you guys sit around all day puffing on these things. If this is true, why is it? My plan was to use it like I would a smoke. I know that I don't want to be puffing on this thing constantly just to be satisfied. Even though much healthier (or it appears to be) than cigs, it can't be healthy to be constantly vaping all the time can it?

I am really hoping that I can just vap every couple hours for about the length of a analog, and be satisfied for the next couple of hours. Thats my hope anyway. Well, all comments are welcome. Am I misinterpeting?

Okay, I vape all day - every day; but, it's not because I don't get my nic hit - its because it has become my "bad" habit, one that I am not going to stop anytime soon. I enjoy vaping whenever I want.

If I actually do sit my e-cig down, I will forget about it until the nic craving begins. But since I enjoy vaping that doesn't happen to often. :)

dont get seduced into the "fun" enthusiast hobby side of e smoking..

at best it can be considered a lesser evil... they are not toys even thow many on this forum treat them as such..

i now consider myself to be a life long e smoker... i wish i wasnt.. its still a bloody nuisance even if a possible "safer" one..

When i first started i did vap all the tiem. Partly because i could and partly beacuse i was enjoying it and wanted to get it figured out just how to use it.

Since then i have slowed down quite a bit. I have also dropped to a med from high with no nocticable difference. I can still hit it pretty hard at times though.
At work i'll tend to take 4- 5 puffs and put it down for 15 - 20 min. Other times i'll let it sit for an hour or so then pick it up and hammer it for 20 minutes. All depends how busy i am.

It seems i can either vap like a madman or use it like an analog. Either way i am happy.

I think in the end it comes down to your own personal goals. If you want to use it the same as an analog do it. If you want to vap like a demon do that. It is down to you how you use it.

Because of all additives and chemicals in analogs, your body absobs the nicotine faster than it would vaping. I think that may be one reason why I vape more. I was always a fast, suck in as much as I can before my break is over kind of smoker. Vaping makes you slow down because the atomizer can't handle vape after vape the same way you could smoking. Since I can vape inside I think I vape more too. Right now I'm working on not vaping or having my ecig on me at all times. :)

I vape more because I can do it inside. I would say at work I only vape the same as I used to smoke and I can leave it an hour at home without feeling like I want a hit. If I'm on the xbox though I vape constantly through my newly acquired USB passthrough... Hehe who would have thought an Xbox could help satisfy my nicotine cravings :)

Even after over a month...I still cannot work out how best to use it.... unlike a real cigarette there is no 'end'.....that final moment of stubbing a cigarette out was a good 'end' but with this you have to make up your mind when to stop.....I have been thinking about using an egg timer or something!

very, very true.

if only they could make a battery that shrank in size over the course of a couple of minutes while we vaped but grew back in size when put down then we would be sorted! lol

i try and limit myself to 15 puffs and then stop to try and replicate smoking a cigarette..........though this rarely works as i normally forget that im meant to be keeping count!

Ok, a few things to consider

First there is no tar, meaning that I just smoked feeling doesn't linger

2nd because of wicking and atomisers overheating it's best to take a few drags then let it rest for a while (it's not like a cig where you smoke it, every hit is consistent, and then you put it out when it get's to the filter)

Which leads to the 3rd reason, it's basically a never ending cig, you loose track of what the analog equivelant would be

For me it's more of the 2nd reason, taking 2-3 puffs every 10-15 minutes is about equal to 1 analog every hour; but I hear ya some of the people on this forum are nuts, hehehe
Just kiding
:p

Plenty of people here have overdosed on nicotine and can tell you that they are somehow vaping beyond their tolerance.

I vape more than I smoked but am working on using zero nic with occasional doses of nic to simulate a smoking pattern. The nic is having a much more satisfying effect that way.

Until recently I vaped almost constantly low to medium nic and could hardly notice the drug although I didn't get cravings for tobacco.

Different strokes for different folks.

Interesting. I vape all day long when I am working at the computer but it's a couple hits here and there. I will go through a couple of batteries but I do enjoy vaping a lot more than I enjoyed smoking and hit the thing more frequently. I have gone from Med to Low to mostly zero with low and occasional med for a kick or if I'm stressed and want the nic effect. At the pub it is seldom out of my hand.

There are a few reasons I think it's likely that e-cigs lend themselves more to constant use than analog cigarettes.

One is that vaping lacks the poisonous feeling you get from wretched burning tobacco. With vapor, you don't really get any "it's time to stop" feeling like average smokers get from tobacco. Unless you REALLY overdo it, there's really no negative feeling that shows up.

Then there's the logistical differences: like the ability to do it indoors, the lack of unpleasant smells building up for yourself and your family/roommates. And the fact that there's less evidence of how much you've vaped, since you're not consuming cigarette after cigarette, leaving a .... each time. Unless you make a conscious effort to measure and keep track of millileters of liquid consumed, it's easy to remain oblivious to the depth of your habit.

It's also my belief that most smokers aren't just addicted to nicotine. That's at least the case for me. The vapor doesn't give smokers everything they crave, so they keep vaping instinctively, cause our brains say "nope, not gettin it yet, maybe a little more will do the trick..." and when it doesn't happen, we do it some more, in a vicious cycle. Meanwhile the plastic tube does take care of the oral fixation, keep our hands and mouths busy.

Plus it's pleasant-feeling and pleasant-tasting, and fun. Even if you do it constantly, like I do, it's still better than inhaling smoke. That's my reasoning anyway. If you're conscious of all the above, you could make that extra effort to keep a strict handle on your vaping habit. I'm not quite there yet.

Agree with the above. I also would note, as someone already has on an older thread, that when you start an analog, you feel compelled somehow to finish it (either because of habit, or not feeling sated unless you do, or not to feel wasteful). With e-cigging, I often just use it for a couple of drags at a time.
I think it's interesting that generally the manner of vaping is different than analog smoking. The longer more careful drags in vaping is mandated by the mechanics of the draw and battery cutoff, etc., but I kind of like it. I also like sometimes, when the att and batt are hitting their stride, to just take frequent little "sips" of vape while I think about something and let the vape out slowly. I only really do analog-like aggressive drags when I'm really jonesing for an analog and want to forestall having one.
