I have a Vision Vivi Nova 2.5 and am getting a horrible burned taste. I have read and read and read on this forum and haven't found anything that worked to stop it, short of re-wicking. But, I'm not quite ready for that yet.

So, I'm tired of messing with this thing. At least right now. I just want something to use that doesn't taste burned.

I do want a tank and was looking at IB-tanked. I don't know if those are good or not. So guys, will you please just recommend something to me that actually works that doesn't smell like something is burning inside?

Thank you very much, in advance. :)

They are good. Now get one. :D

Just go to the tank subforum here, there are dozens of posts of mostly happy IBTank owners. High quality at an inexpensive cost. I have five of them. You can't beat the price for around $25 for a very nice pyrex tank and SS caps.

I have a review of them in my blog, which is full of pics of them on various batteries and testimonies of owners who love them.

Just click "blog entries" under my avatar picture.

Above are pics of the 25mm diameter tank on a Silver Bullet and of the 19mm on an eGo Twist.

I've just ordered the Valley Vapes tanks ($8 with side-fill screw.) Decent reviews, and he is getting glass & pyrex versions back in stock later this month.

FWIW all attys will eventually have problems (burned 'crust', burned wick, complete failure) and you can get new attys a lot cheaper than new gear. I like tanks though - got my first one the other day @ a B&M (random unbranded tank) and I'm switching over for my all-day flavors, but I also ordered a pack of cartos for when the originals burn out...

You HAVE soaked the tube, caps, and stem in vodka for a few minutes, rinsed clean, and then replaced the head with a new one right?

I didn't soak them in vodka, but I washed them. Also tried dry-burning the wick and removed that circular thing on top of the coil. Oh, and I expanded the size of the slot in the metal and notched the plastic thingy.

And yes, when I replace the head, it is ok for awhile and then here comes the burned taste. The juice actually is getting darker too, so that must be getting burned too. I use high VG and from what I've read, that increases the likelihood of the burned taste.

Might be the juice or wicks. My highest (so far) is 70/30.. Just ordered a bunch of 50/50 so I may be right behind you junking my novas after it gets here :)

(ETA: carto tank does sound like a good switch since you can punch it according to your juice thickness/draw strength..)

I have 5 novas. Once I got the shroud out from around the factory coils, I never have any problems with them. I have read many a complaint/concern with burning, funny or lack of flavor, leaking, etc. Etc. I have never had these issues. With that said, I wonder if it is the juice causing issues. I use 50/50 or 60/40.
I have noticed the juice darkening issue but associated it with the oxidation of the juice accelerated by the heat from the coil. Acai berry, for example, I clean and dryburn after every tankfull. I was surprised by this as its such a clear juice. Some of the others I have are every other tank. I wish there was less maintenance, but such is life. I have been waiting to try some carto tanks. I might change my mind about the novas after but for now I love me some novas!!

I really dont know what to say here. I am running 100%VG 26mg Nic through my Nova 2.5ml and have been vaping non-stop for about 28 hours right now. I am on tank #5 right now. I have only had a slightly burnt taste once so far and that was with the tank nearly dry. I dont know how people are saying they get dry hits... Not sure if its because I lay my PV down when I am not puffing, or if people are buying knock-offs.

On the note of an everlasting burnt taste, that doesnt really make much sense if you are cleaning the whole thing. Nothing on a ViVi can hold a taste or scent other than the wick and that is getting replaced with the new head. As for it going away and then coming back, the only thing that can really mean is that you are cutting the long wicks, you are keeping your PV perfectly straight up and down constantly, or you are using too much voltage for your head ohms/the juice you are vaping. Even then though, the taste should go away after a puff or 2. If it is constant I would be wondering more along the lines of too much voltage to the head or trying to vape a juice with too much power and you are effectively burning the juice every puff you take

It's a Vision Vivi Nova, so it's not a knockoff. I have tried 2.4, 2.8 and the 1.8 ohms that came with it. My replacement heads are 2.4 and 2.8 ohms and they aren't knockoffs, either. Early-on, I did vape a lot at around 4.5, then read on here that this might be too high and impacting the flavor, so I have been vaping lately at 3.4. Once it starts on a new head, it doesn't go away, so I must have been confusing on that. I do rotate my e-cig to make sure the wicks are getting plenty of juice. I even tried taking off the silicone cap, but whatever must have already been fried.

So, I guess I am frustrated. Maybe later at some point, I will revisit them and try re-wicking. I unfortunately bought a lot of replacement heads, so I probably will see if I can salvage this deal at some point. But, for right now, I'd just like something that works and doesn't taste like a tire.

Would you please clarify what you mean by vaping it with too much power? I understand too much voltage, but since you listed this as an "or", I'm not sure what you mean.
