Hi tonko and welcome to ECF..

Firstly I would advise you to forget the sums, and forget trying to equate vaping to smoking, it just doesn't work.

Firstly look for your supplier, and as you are UK, simply go down the list of suppliers looking for those based in the UK.. look at their stock and read up on the various ecigs they have available.

UK suppliers stock some really good ones for beginners.

Now, most come with carts, and initially they are filled with juice, but, that doesnt mean you have buy more pre-filled carts, no, this would work out expensive and restrict your choice of juice.

So look also, at the juice they sell in order to refill your carts.

Start with a juice between 11mg and 18mg. I would think 18mg would be better as you smoked 2.5 packs daily.

So to clarify, you need the PV ( personal vaporiser or ecig ) of your choice, preferably a starter kit, as you will need chargers etc., buy at least one spare atomiser, and be sure your kit has a spare battery, as you need one in use and one on charge.

Then buy a bottle of juice, of the flavour you fancy.

Remember, you cannot reproduce the taste of smoke...lol.

Now, you will be ready to start vaping, and you will soon have an idea how much juice you will need etc.,

Good Luck

There are too many differences between cigs and PV's. The first hurdle to get over is what hardware to start with and why. The second is finding a juice that works for you.

I very strongly recommend reading all six parts of http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/36180-wonderful-world-vaping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html.

It is the best place to start. Yes, it will take some time. Yes, there are lots of pictures to distract you. Take the time and you will come away much more enlightened. You'll probably even have your hardware narrowed down to just a couple picks and understand much more about the juice.

Welcome and have fun.

Agreed that it is best to read, read, read. You will find a lot of different opinions as to which e-cig is best, etc. but you'll get some similar advice also. My biggest mistake was not ordering enough supplies. I'm stuck smoking analogs again temporarily.
But the peeps on this forum are amazingly helpful and don't seem to mind what appear to be "dumb" questions. There is so such thing as a stupid question here, you'll get good answers.

I would suggest read, read, and read. You can also find a lot on YouTube, by searching e-cigarette. You will need to read about refilling the cartridges with liquid. You will need to top off or swap the cartridges every few hours of use.

You can order a starter kit, and a couple small bottles of different liquids, without spending to much but you will have to try it to, decide if you like it.

Most people (or at least me) find out the batteries, and cartridges don’t last as long as we expected. If you decide to stick with vaping you will need to buy some extra supplies before you try to give up the regular smokes.

Also don’t let you exceptions get to high. For me anyway, the e-cig has not been a magic stick that got me to quit smoking. Without the e-cig I’ve never been able to even cut down on my smoking. With the e-cig I have cut back my smoking, but I am still struggling to quit. I e-cig is the best thing I have found so I stick with it.

Sorry to get off topic, but that's a pretty sweet avatar Petbe.

Tonko, I use cartomizers and go through one every 2 days. I used to smoke 1/2 pack a day. I was once told that one cart = 1 pack. The carts cost $2.20 each (which is a lot cheaper than a pack of smokes).

However, by refilling them the cost comes down to $.43 each. That's .43 cents per pack versus the cloves I was smoking were $8.00.

I find vaping much less expensive, but most people tend to vape more than they smoke. Even if that were the case, I'd have to vape 18 carts (or packs of cigarettes worth) in order for it to cost as much as a single analog pack.

I use Vapor4Life. Here's what they say:

2) What is the Nobacco Liquid made of?

There are three basic ingredients in our Nobacco Juice. The first ingredient is Propylene Glycol which is considered safe by the FDA as a food additive. The second ingredient is nicotine, which is completely optional. All of our liquids are available with various strengths of nicotine and are also available completely nicotine free. The third ingredient in our Nobacco Juice is food grade flavoring. PLEASE NOTE: Nicotine is extremely addictive and is intended for adults only! Also please handle all Nobacco Juice with care. Keep it out of reach of children and pets, as even a small amount of nicotine is potentially toxic.

They have a subforum under the "approved sellers" list in the E-cig forums. I find the Juice flavorful with a good vape production. This is subjective of course to each person's taste buds.

Cartridges can be a bit of a pain. If you're a heavy smoker you might find dripping easier and more convenient than constantly refilling carts. At least that's my experience.

Country Class most of the liquids offered for sale are safe for vaping. If you really want to be sure, go for one of the higher end liquids like Halo and you can't go wrong.
