I've been shopping around from various juice vendors and I've finally made up my mind. From now on, I'm not buying anything lower than 24mg juice. I have some fantastic tasting 18 mg juices but the problem is I end up vaping more of it in order to get the nicotine that I expect. When I vape too much, my mouth and throat end up getting really dry, and this is especially true now that the weather is getting colder and the air itself is drier. I also use up the juice faster the more I vape, obviously.

I do enjoy feeling the effects of the nictotine; in fact, that's why I vape. If I want to just taste a flavor, I'll suck on a piece of candy, and since my goal isn't to gradually decrease my nic levels I'm not concerned about it and also not concerned about being "addicted" to nicotine. Heck, all sorts of things are addictive, they say Orio Cookies are addictive, so if I'm going to allow myself to get addicted to something nicotine is by far one of the least harmful substances to be hooked on.

I got my shipment of juice from The Vape Room today (great deal by the way), and I purchased the majority of it at 24 mg. I squirted some Hypnotic (a pleasant, subtle grapefruit flavor with an average throat hit) into the ProTank mini and took a vape and it dawned upon me--that is a good mixture, that is a good vape, an enjoyable flavor with some nic kick to it. I have a small order on the way from Mt. Baker at 36 mg just to have something that strong around to test out the even higher levels to see what perfect level is for me. But even the best 18 mg flavors I have just don't cut it for me, that's for sure, and even though vaping is pretty harmless inhaling anything besides air can pose risks, so the less I can vape while still getting enjoyment out of it, the better.

So I've made some major decisions effecting what I purchase in the future. Tanks: glass, no more plastic. Batteries, VV or nothing. Vape flavor: pretty much fruits and mints, combination of both even better. And nic level: nothing lower than 24 mg.

Complete agreement CJ. I have recently come to the same decision. 24 keeps me off smokes. 18 doesn't. 24 keeps me from being a snarky %&*&%$, 18 does not. If the research is correct......that warmed nicotine is about as harmful as caffeine......why would I give that up??? I am sure as heck not giving up my coffee! And yes, VV is becoming a necessity also.

Personally I would think caffeine would even be more harmful. Harsh on the liver and it lingers in the system much longer and I for one am WAAAY more likely to throw a tantrum or something when I've had too much coffee. Too much nicotine? Well, I might get a bit dizzy but the most I want to do is lie down and take a nap.

I think a lot of people successfully quit smoking through vaping but then don't really realize they have quit smoking already and equate the vaping with continuing the smoking habit. No. You stopped smoking. Now you're vaping. The question now is, do you want to quit vaping? If the answer is yes, then by all means, gradually lower the nic level until you're vaping 0 mg. If the answer is no, then don't worry about it and have fun vaping.

I came from pipes and cigars so don't inhale into my lungs. 24 mg at somewhere around 1 ohm (mech) gives me what I need to get the same nic I was getting smoking. It's what I use when I have to get other things besides vaping done. Plus I can buy a liter of the unflavored 50/50 24 mg inexpensively and add 2-3% flavoring... just enough to know it's there. If I drop to 18 mg and/or use a higher resistance, I vape much more. I buy the few commercial juices I buy as treats in 18 mg so I can vape them more, and with 2.0Ω I'm hitting the 18 mg almost constantly. If I use a lower resistance, say 0.5Ω, I vape even less.

eta: yeah, I'm glass... but mechs only any more

I am still gradually experimenting with resistance. Right now I have some 2.2, 2.4 and 2.8 evod heads. I also have some wick and coil and will eventually start messing around with that but don't feel I'm ready yet. I have not grasped a handle on the effects of the different ohms yet. That'll be something that can only be accomplished with a lot of time and trial and error I imagine.

I've also found that I absorb less nicotine from the high VG juices. I would imagine that's why you get less throat hit off of them, because you simply aren't absorbing the nicotine into your throat. And why would you when there is twice the vapor yet still the same amount of nicotine: it makes sense you would actually absorb only half as much nicotine as you would with a high PG juice. 50/50 seems pretty good to me, although the Mt. Baker I have coming is something like 80 PG, so I'm expecting the throat hit of the century when I first try those juices.

I still vaped to much at 24mg, I use 36mg now and I can set it down for awhile. It's a lot cheaper too. I don't go thou near as much e-juice.

When I double or halve resistance on a mech, it's the same as halving or doubling power on a VW, or dividing or multiplying voltage by the square root of 2 on a VV.

How do you keep it from burning though? No need to answer, it's rhetorical since I don't have the same equipment as you do anyway. Maybe a few months from now I'll be able to share my thoughts about ohms, right now it just seems the lower the ohms, the lower I have to set the voltage which just ends up being the same thing as if I had a higher ohm and higher voltage. But I'm still a newbie in that department I suppose.

That is exactly right, at least from an electrical perspective. The aficionados tell us there's a difference. I don't taste it and probably never will. Those of us who run a lot more power do so with rebuildable atomizers which can boil a lot more juice without burning.

Good point...I realize now that my preferred (or so I thought) was dropping down to .6...but I vape CONSTANTLY at .6. Stepping up to 1.2 or more cuts down on my chain vaping because I feel that I got "enough" for now if that makes sense.

That makes total sense. Right now I took about seven big vapes of the 24 mg and I'm good. I'll have some more probably in 20 min to a half hour. If it was a lower nic level I'd still be vaping it, probably wouldn't even take a break until it snuck up on me and made me dizzy.

You, like myself, might find the 18mg to be too much and realize you're chain vaping for some other reason. I had to cut back down or mix it up.

I'm at 12mg right now, 24 helped get me of cigs, 18 was great, but kept me awake at night. I may still have to go a little lower. I know I could sleep better than I am, lately, without having to pop a sleep aid. Just no need to go there if I don't have to.
