I'm at 12mg right now, 24 helped get me of cigs, 18 was great, but kept me awake at night. I may still have to go a little lower. I know I could sleep better than I am, lately, without having to pop a sleep aid. Just no need to go there if I don't have to.

I haven't found vaping interrupting with my sleep whatsoever. In fact, I think I've been sleeping better since I started vaping.

By the way, thumbs up to The Vape Room so far. Even though I've only tried out one of the seven flavors I got in the mail today (two of them were FREE as gifts), I must say it's not just the nic level that makes this juice good. The flavor is not overwhelming which for me means I'm not going to get sick of it any time soon. It's a flavor that you have to think a little bit about. It isn't just GRAPEFRUIT shoved into your mouth, it's just a hint of grapefruit with something else going on in there, not sure what yet. It actually might be tonic water flavor.

good idea, CJ!
If 18 does not satisfy you, then do go with 24 by all means.

Tobacco smoke contains all kinds of stuff, in addition to the nicotine. Vapor contains only the nicotine, so to speak.
So, when we switch from smoking to vaping, most of us do consume the nicotine as if it was going out of style... to make up for all the other stuff that we are not getting any longer. :)

I would recommend getting one bottle of a 0 nic liquid with your next order, though. In a flavor than can mix with your favorite flavors. (vanilla goes with almost everything). Thus, when you find the 24 a little high, over time, then you can mix some 0 into it, to lower the nic content to your taste.

I myself started with 18, and I stuck with 18. Still vaping 18, two years later. I just consume less liquid now.

@woodenjester:
As to cutting down on the nicotine:
Take it slowly, please. The nicotine is not the enemy. Nicotine is about as "harmful" as caffeine. It is all the other stuff in tobacco smoke that was killing us. Including the smoke itself.

And: if you vape (say) 9 ml of 6 mg nic - or if you vape (say) 3 ml of 18 mg nic = you get the same nicotine in one day. Just gotta vape more and find it less satisfying. If I am hungry (now!) I do not want to eat lettuce leaves.. and eat and eat... I want a steak. Now! :D

That's a really good idea. Another good idea is getting some nic concentrate to spike the 18 mg stuff that I have up to an acceptable level.

Nice to hear you have found something you are enjoying CJ ... I really did feel your pain when those losers at AVapor ripped you off.

I am still enjoying the Green Apple from yesterday that was my first DIY ... however I did add 1 drop of EM to it.

Even though I am still under 50 days vaping ... my days of hunting for juice are over :2cool:

holy mother of G**
But then, we are all different :) And if the 24 mg nic makes your switch to vaping nice and satisfying, by all means, go for it!
Your body will tell you when it is enough for a while. Same as when you have had enough to eat.
Happy vaping! :)

I've actually found out that I'm more likely to overdo it on the lower level nic juices. Where as I can immediately feel the nicotine at the higher dosage, warning my body to take it easy, I don't really feel it at all at the lower nicotine levels therefore I vape and vape and vape until suddenly it all hits me at once and I have to sit still for about three minutes to let it run its course. Even when that happens, however, it really isn't all that unpleasant and passes rather quickly.

OK, now I'm taste testing the "Classic Cola" at 24 mg from The Vape Room. Once again, nice flavor, flavor is a bit stronger than the Hypnotic but not overwhelming, this one doesn't have much throat hit to speak of but burns ever so slightly on exhale through the nostril, better exhaled through the mouth which produces a variant of the flavor, really nice, I can see this one becoming one of my favorites.

I'm still looking for the right level for me. Started with 18mg. Then cut down. But feeling I'm not getting what I need. So I smoke throughout the day. But when I vape I chain vape. now I'm doing diy. So maybe now I can find MY juice

I don't get this:
You started with 18 mg and then cut down - and now you are not getting the nic you need?
Uhm.... why not go back to 18 mg?
The nicotine is not the enemy. And the nicotine is not what is dangerous in cigarette smoke.

Cutting down on the nicotine is the biggest mistake any new vaper can make. Because there IS something that contains nicotine.. in a very easily available form: the tobacco cigarette. Plus, of course, it contains a whole lot of harmful stuff :(

So, vaping with 18 - or even 24 mg nic - is a lot less harmful than smoking tobacco. A LOT less harmful. Approx. 99% less harmful.

I think a lot of people successfully quit smoking through vaping but then don't really realize they have quit smoking already and equate the vaping with continuing the smoking habit. No. You stopped smoking. Now you're vaping. The question now is, do you want to quit vaping? If the answer is yes, then by all means, gradually lower the nic level until you're vaping 0 mg. If the answer is no, then don't worry about it and have fun vaping.

I quit smoking over 6 months ago (so damn proud of myself)
I have absolutely no intention of quitting vaping EVER like with my coffee... But i have begun my search for the ultimate vape (for me) and ive found out that i like to chainvape so ive lowered the nic to 6 and i subohm and do long lung drags...

Now that to me is heaven, a big thick heavy cloud of great taste paired with a subtle hit of nicotine that i can then repeat several times before needing a nap

I started on 24mg and have had to cut back to 18mg because I've been having issues which may or may not relate to vaping at 24mg but I'm vaping a lot more on 18mg. The TH is really massive on some 24mg liquids though, specially if you're using more than 50 per cent PG.

I'm going back to 24mg if I can at some point, I vaped like I smoked on 24, picked it up, got satisfied then put it down. On 18 I'm vaping a lot. Like others have said the nicotine itself isn't dangerous unless you're vaping like a loon on 24mg and for a while I did when I discovered butterscotch flavour lol.

I understand. Smoking is also a habit. So I have to remember not to pick up the stinkys :)

I'm down to 18 and 12 now. I want to be down to 6 and 12 by the new year, which be a year off ciggs. At this point, 24 makes me nauseous. The transition from smoking to vaping was pretty easy for me. I was on RYO's for the last few years, so the withdrawals from the chemicals in commercial cigarettes were already gone.

I plan on quitting vaping eventually. While I do feel much better than when I smoked, my lungs still don't feel "normal."

*smiles* Vaping can become a habit just like smoking did :)
In the beginning, one must make a concious effort to reach for the PV. To make "vaping rituals" out of all the former "smoking rituals".
And there are many: morning coffee, relaxing after a meal, making a phone call, having a drink with friends .. etc etc.

But very quickly that new action becomes a habit as well. And - before you know it - you will reach for the PV just as naturally as you reached for your pack of cigarettes.

I have been vaping for 2 years now - and all my former smoking rituals have become vaping rituals. It only take the conscious effort right in the beginning.

(little story)
OR when you encounter a smoking-ritual time where you have never vaped before :D
I started vaping in November (!) 2011. Winter time. So, in May 2012, I went out on my balcony for the 1st time after I started vaping. And as I happily lay on my lawn chair with my book, all of a sudden, my mind started thinking about a tobacco cigarette. I was like "WTH???".

Well, the solution was easy:
I had started vaping in winter. And turned all the WINTER smoking rituals into vaping rituals. Now, the SUMMER smoking rituals were starting - and I had not turned them into vaping rituals yet :D - I took my PV, vaped, was very happy and satisfied. And that was the end of that weird "longing" :D

..............
And please, no saying to me, like "you gotta stop vaping, too". No, I do not. And I have no intention of ever doing so. Period.

That's why DIY is so great I can drop nic down one mg at a time

+1! Dropping down from 18mg to the 12mg that most vendors offer was way to big of a jump for me. Now I can have what I want, when I want it. Of the 1 or 2 vendor liquids I still use, I'll buy and 18mg and 12mg and sometimes mix them but it's a PITA. It's not really all one level for me anyway. I have some 24mg WTA in little clearos for those times when I know I'm going to be irritated, and some chill 12mg something for when I can relax, and pretty much everything in between.

I like vaping 24mg mainly too & consider myself in the same boat as you (OP). I like nicotine so I'm not really interested in cutting back on it.

HST I have purchased some 18mg for those times when I feel like chain vaping or for those times when I'm trying to figure out what's going on with something I'm vaping on (ya know how you take a hit then adjust something then hit again then adjust & an 20 minutes later you have a headache from too much nicotine lol). But generally I do love my 24mg.

I did try 36mg for a while too just to see if that might be something I like better. But for me, the amount I want to vape compared to the amount of nicotine my body found acceptable didn't match up. I got headaches from it after a while so I cut back to 24 again. That's a nice level for me.
