Wow! I got my Ego all assembled earlier and have given it a few go's and thought it was fantastic! The taste was great, I'm already adapting to the way I need to drag on it compared to analogs, loved the taste of the virginia juice it came with...and I know I'm going to enjoy my vaping experience.

Just one or two quick questions...I was unprepared by how much vapour would be produced and the strength of the throat hit. It also leaves a strange warming type feeling in my chest...is there anything I can do to tone the TH down a bit? And is the chest feeling normal?

I've started on a standard ego_c kit out of the box with the ego cartos. juice is 16mg and not sure of the pg/vg mix.

Well, first off, congrats on your choice. The chest feeling is normal, I also experienced that, it will go away in time. Your lungs aren't used to having anything but smoke in them lol. The TH will depend on several things, the ohm of your cartos and the volts from your ego-c, not familiar with those, don't know the voltage on them. If you got pure pg then it's a stronger TH, I go with a 50/50 mix, that's all my throat can handle. Good luck and congrats again.

You didn't say what ohm rating you cartomizer was, or whether it is a dual coil or single coil

A low resistance (1.5-2.0 ohm rating) and a dual coil cart will produce a warmer vapor. Increasing the ohm rating between 2.1-2.5 ohm and switching to a single coil cart will allow for a cooler vapor.

Nicotine level is the biggest determinating factor in throat hit, followed by a higher PG ratio of the PG/VG of the juice.

Beginning vapors often require some time to adjust from smoke to vapor. It will improve over time.

Also know that you don't need to inhale the vapor to absorb it. Most is absorbed in the mouth and nose; inhaling or not is an option. Gentle, slow, 3-6 second puffs work best. Vape as if sucking a milkshake from a straw into your mouth.

Thanks everyone.

I'm not sure of ohm ratings, but it was all standard Joye products, no VV (thats down the line). I think the standard ego battery is 3.5v (or thereabouts) and the Carto ohm is around 2.2 maybe. It came with a 10ml bottle of juice so I have emailed Joye to find out the pg/vg mix before I start ordering a good selection of juice from elsewhere. I smoke around 15 lite cigarettes a day so figured this 16mg juice would be good, but this throat hit is coming only from a 2-3 second puff so I will probably order 12mg next.

Welcome, my first question is did you get the Ego C upgrade??? That's where you can switch the batteries from 3.2 to 4.1 volts at full charge. It will say 'upgrade' on the side of the battery along with Joyetech? What color are your lights when engaged? If they are upgraded and you are running on 4.1v the TH ( which I love) would be increased.

A lot of people I have spoken to who have stopped vaping after their first attempt said the same thing, that its harsh or "heavy" try something away from the standard blend that comes with the starter kit, drop the Nic level from like 2.4 to 2 or 1.8, and up the VG a little, just know that you'll vape a little more to get the desired affect. Also check your flavors, as much as I like the melon blends they give me heart burn ;) enjoy.

Thanks again everyone.

I think I was still inhaling into the lungs too much which gave the chest feeling, but I'm adapting to that which is helping. I also got 18mg juice with the kit so am ordering up a few different juices, some 12 and 18, with different pg/vg mixes so I can find what suits.

None of this has put me off the idea of vaping though, because the taste is just magnificent!

So this chest thing??? I haven't puffed on my pv for about 4 hours but yet I still have this strange, tightish feeling in my chest...is that normal???

This is something that could be something or could be nothing, and maybe should addressed by your physician if it continues to persist. My main concern is what you are describing is vague and not open to interpretation by non-medical people in an internet forum. For all I know you could be experiencing angina or a heart attack. I think it best to err on the safe side and see your physician if the symptoms persist or become more frequent.

There are a small percentage of vapors who have sensitivities to either of the two components of e-liquid, Pg (propylene glycol) and Vg (vegetable glycerin). Symptoms to these e-liquid sensitivities can be vague also.
