Big hello to all, heres a quick recap. . . .

New to e-cigs so bought a poor first choice due to potentially rigged positive feedback (iCig from amazon)

did ok with said cigarette until it started being pants (3 days in).

ordered some allegedly high strength ejuice for direct drip technique. e-cig continued to perform poorly despite best efforts.

joined ECF and recieved some brilliant and invaluable info from members (big thanks to all)

ordered a new Riva 510 Special edition from strong recommendations.

said Riva arrived today - unpacked said Riva, charged it, filled first cart with bought ejuice (from previous e-cig) B+H flavour 36mg (VG)

inserted cart hit the button and nearly blew my head and throat out! - this thing is awesome and mighty powerful compared to my previous experience!

Ok so thats the re-cap which brings me nicely up to date and to my new problem. It turns out that what was sold to me as high strength e juice is in fact super high strength. two or three puffs is damn near enough to ensure nic poisoning :) (maybe a slight exaggeration)

so i present a question to anyone who can help.

if I bought a bottle of zero strength ejuice and mixed the two together in equal parts would i then have a bottle of 18mg juice of twice the size? - That does seem logical but thought i'd see if anyone knew for sure or has experience with this.

Also if anyone has any other ideas/ suggestions it'd be great to hear them.

Thanks again

Kris

I'm a noob also, I'm finding the mg's hit and miss as far as throat hit goes. A 18mg marl red feels like nothing, a 24mg menthol tastes too much but a 18mg whiskey flavour feels too much. I think it's just going to be a long game of hit and miss till we find what we're actually after. I think logic would say if you mixed it down with 0nic it would lower the hit though.

36mg is on the high side, so it's not surprising that it;s a little too strong. Mixing 0mg and 36mg in equal parts will indeed give you 18mg strength. If they are both flavored liquids, then you will still end up with full flavor as well. Mixing the 36mg with unflavored base will cut the flavor in half and may not be a great result, depending on how flavorful the juice is. If you are mixing two different flavors, try a few drops of each at a time to make sure you like the result before committing the whole bottle.

Different flavors, different brands of juice and different PG/VG mixes all will have different levels of throat hit, so you're right, experimenting is the only way to find exactly what works for you.

36mg is a lot - 50% more than "high" nicotine
Nicotine = TH and irritation
Heat and flavor type can enhance TH
PG lets through the most TH and flavor and irritation
VG dulls all of those and adds more visible vapor

Yes -
If you mix 0mg flavored juice and 36mg flavored juice you get 18mg flavored juice
If you instead use unflavored 0mg juice, then you end up with 18mg weakly flavored juice
If the one juice is PG and one is VG, you end up with 50pg/50vg

18mg isn't nothing. If your Riva came with LR attys then 18mg may be more than enough TH

Thanks again Dormouse - the Riva packs a hell of a punch! it does have LR attys and is off the scale in comparison to the iCig I started with. I have ordered 2x5ml of different tobbacco flavour juices both 0mg from LF (they seem to be an amazing company ordered my Riva yesterday and it arrived this morning!) which I'm going to mix with the 36mg and see what the results are like. I'm going to mix it adding a small amout of the 36mg at a time in a bid to find a happy medium i.e a satisfying TH and just the right amount of nic. fingers crossed I can find the perfect blend!

Thanks again

Kris, if you don't mind a reduction in flavour (as mentioned by both Cyberwolf & Dormouse) - buy a bottle of Glycerine from a chemist. Boots sell 100ml for about £1.20. Or you can buy a smaller bottle from most super market for about 50p from the baking section.
